very dated hotel, room was small but we were only staying one night, very hot and stuffy, breakfast was ample, although the black pudding was soooooo hard, soft drinks from the bar were flat, coke etc, lovely view of the river, plenty of car parking space, wdnt stay in this hotel again purely down to its lack of lift

Room tip: top floor, no lift though,

Thankfully I didn't pay for the room I had here for six nights. What can I say. Basic and very simple. My room was so small I could stretch my arms and touch both walls at the same time. Bathroom was functional but be prepared to wait over thee minutes for the hot water to reach you as certain parts of the hotel are a long way from the hot water tank!
Not sure what they charge but anything over £30 a night would be too high.

This hotel is well placed in the centre of Llangollen with good car parking and with easy access to the town and local amenities and attractions. Alongside the River Dee, rooms on that side of the hotel have a splendid view across the river and valley towards the hills, The staff seem friendly and the bar is well stocked and the food in the restaurant very palatable.

But, sadly this hotel contains all the ingredients that have given British residential accommodation such disappointing reviews in the past. The rooms are fairly comfortable but quite small. En suites are basic with traditional bath/showers with unsophisticated plumbing mechanisms that ensure phases of scalding and freezing. Heating is difficult to adjust and there is no air conditioning. In our room the tv remote control was not the correct one for the set and there was no handle on the wardrobe so the door had to be prised open using a spoon.

As mentioned above some rooms have wonderful views but are over the main bar area so don't expect to sleep early on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights when there is entertainment.

There are no lifts and many stairs heading in different directions including up from the bar to the main restaurant so this establishment is totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility difficulties.

Room tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river if you want the view and don't mind more noise from the bar area

Stayed here for one night in August on a business stop-over.
Clean room and bathroom.
Not a modern hotel and a little dated.
Good views of the river, and nice beer garden.
Slightly noisy at night with the bar underneath.
Breakfast was good and meal the night before was large!

The people were friendly and the room rate was very reasonable £55, so no complaints there.

The hotel itself and my room was clean, though it had that tired and slightly dog-eared feel of an older property that could really do with some money spending on it.

The staff were welcoming, helpful and very friendly. The grub in the bar was fine and the local real ale at the bar was excellent. And there was free parking too!

Room tip: Ask for a river view - it really is lovely!
