“Don't bother.”

Stayed one night.
Room was clean but very outdated, think nan's carpet and green bathroom suite! Rock hard mattresses. Also sheep kept outside bedroom window in a little smelly courtyard, noisy and unpleasant.

Didn't have breakfast as I left before they began serving it at 8.30 which is far too late for anyone on a business stay

The hotel looked great as we drove towards it as it is surrounded by wonderful scenery. However, there was no one in the reception area to greet us and we had to go in search of someone in the bar area. We were directed to our room, on the first floor as were all rooms. There was no lift so unsuitable for disabled guests. Although our room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the decor was tired and old fashioned . The en suite had a bath with a hand held shower, but nothing to fix the shower to the wall and no shower curtain anyway. The towels were scratchy and worn.
We went down to the restaurant which apart from one other couple was deserted. However the food was very good, home cooked.! No one bothered to enquire if all was ok or if we required a desert. We left our table and retired to our room, no staff were to be seen.
Breakfast was also good, so no complaints re the food. Overall, if it's just a place to lay your head and a good meal you require, then it's fine. However, I feel that at £80 a night for the service or rather lack of was too much. We feel that given the location and tourism opportunities, that with drive and enthusiasm the hotel could be made into something a lot more welcoming and special.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a wonderful view.

Booked this for our first night touring, as looked nice and the availability of a four poster bed did appeal. We arrived about an hour early, and the hotel was locked up. Nearby builders did check for us, but the owner had gone out. Popped down the road for some food at a local inn, and found out that folk often cannot access the hotel. If we hadn't had already booked, we would've stayed at the inn, but back we went, and finally gained entry. We were shown two rooms, which were the best ones, and the one we picked, did indeed have a four poster bed. It was a nice enough room, but very tired, and not completely clean. The en suite was ok. But it was very disappointing. We paid £80 for one night with breakfast, and it certainly wasn't worth that amount of money. We ate our evening meal in the bar, and the food was great. No complaints there at all. In the morning, we did not have breakfast, and left once packed and ready. It wasn't the friendliest of places to stay, and sadly we wouldn't go back there again. There is great parking though outside. Lovely spot though and very pretty around that area.

Stayed at the hotel for one night .. Nice location , room basic but clean , view not very good , little disappointed as no Tea or coffee in the room .
Ate in the dining room in the evening and quite enjoyed the meal however Breakfast was a bit disorganized and service was slow , my partner had eaten his breakfast before i was served mine , we had to ask for tea . Sadly on the whole it lacked a personal touch.

Booked hotel as declared dog friendly but no facilities for dogs provided. Charge for dogs added to bill on arrival which was not declared on booking. No one in reception despite bank holiday. Dark unwelcoming fly buzzing reception area. Welcome tepid. Despite email to inform of disabilities no response to say there was no lift. Access to room difficult due to more steps and spring loaded doors. Had informed Hotel of SEVERE allergy to feathers and on arrival was told no feathers in room BUT, this was not the case as there on the bed were 2 feather pillows which were grudgingly replaced. Room was small with views over cow shed and washing line and unable to open window due to stink from farm. Carpet was filthy with recent vomit stain inadequately cleaned. Fixtures and fittings covered in layers of dust. Toilet seat broken. Hole in bath. Shower curtain dirty. Bed gave off a cacophony of noise, mattress wafer thin and unbearably uncomfortable. Appeared to have old blood staining on counterpane. Noise from downstairs door creaking and banging until the small hours added to the impossibility of sleep resulting in worst night sleep for a very long time and effectively spoiling our bank holiday Monday .Breakfast adequate but single waitress harried. No one around on check out to discuss all of above problems. Would not recommend this hotel at all and will definitely not return. In fact this following weekend stayed nearby in sumptuous room and wonderful welcome and atmosphere for less money.

Room Tip: Don't bother

Booked online at Booking.com and stayed with the family for night. Very friendly staff who came and chatted with us.They brew their own beer and have a restaurant.Beautiful views in all directions , 1 mile out of Llangollen and near the horse shoe pass.Room was very big with all the things you need , very comfortable.Breakfast included which was very good.Great for kids as there is a play area , chickens , peacocks wandering about and a very chatty parrot in the bar.Enjoyed the stay and would recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Room 7 was ours , large and comfortable

Booked here for 2 nights as, from the pictures, it was in a beautiful location on the Horseshoe Pass Road. When we arrived, there was no-one on reception, but someone came when we went looking. It all looked rather dingy. However, our room was large and warm and the bed comfortable. We decided to eat in the hotel that night and dutifully went down to the bar for a pre-dinner drink. The bar area looked like a chaotic office with paperwork and invoices spread out over several surfaces (including the bar). Paint and plaster were peeling off one wall and the carpet needed a good vacuuming. I asked for a Gin and Tonic and it took the young girl ages to come and tell me that they hadn't any ice!!!!!. The restaurant was a separate room from the bar, but was very basic and also rather dingy. The meal was enjoyable and tasty and the young lad who served us was very pleasant.
Next morning, the shower was only a dribble and took ages to get warm. Breakfast took rather a long time to come - 45 minutes and was fried hard . When we requested more coffee, we were told that there was no more filter coffee but we could have instant. The poor woman was Eastern European and was doing her best and was obviously conscious of the hotel's shortcomings. There was no evidence of the owner/manager at any time. Needless to say, we didn't eat there on our second night and left early the next morning.
