“Could do better!!”
Reviewed 1 May 2012

Stayed here for a stag do, it wasn’t booked by ourselves so didn’t know what to expect. Welcome was ok, but with no parking by the hotel we had to park in car park a few minutes down the road.
Rooms – We stayed in a 9 bed Dorm which consisted of 4 bunk beds and a single bed. All bed creaked and the pillows were none existent. Other than that they seemed clean.
Breakfast – Good selection of cereals and full English with tea and coffee. Both days we had breakfast before 9am and this didn’t seem a problem for the staff.

All in all the place was average, I wouldn’t stay here again but if your after a local pub to visit I could recommend this. Didn’t try the food other than the breakfast so I cant comment on this.

No customer service at all, room very basic, bed was impossible to sleep in, noise unbearable, and they even started moving furniture around downstairs after 1am !! Went down for breakfast but they didn't even know we were staying. We would not stay there again, nor recommend it, the local operatic society was in the room below ours singing till the early hours, maybe a quite word would have made us aware of this, or even another room, we were the only ones staying !!! Don,t go !!

We booked this hotel on the internet for a stay mid July 2011 and had confirmation by email from Tom. When we checked a couple of weeks beforehand by telephone, the proprietor said we had no booking.... he said they had recently taken over and had no knowledge of previous bookings.......he was booked up and was not going to help us out. Rather rude. Customer service nil.

I booked this hotel my mistake meant to book an hotel with a similar name in Oswestry.
In fact we never stayed here as it was unsuitable for my disabled daughter. It is a pub with no proper reception. When we arrived it was noisy, the manager appeared in a casual shirt and shorts a 70th birthday party was going to be taking place and one side was a pub an the other a snooker room.
I would certainly not reccomend you book your stay without looking at it first.
We booked through Late rooms and although we phoned in advance to cancelhad to pay the first night because we had missed the deadline.
I found the Manager to be unhelpful and as I have already said make sure you know where this is before you book.

We do not hide the face that we are a pub which offers bed and breakfast. the customer had come in on a busy sat evening when the pub had been open all day. This potential guest did not even see the rooms. As the guest has mentioned they had booked wrong hotel and also wrong dates, when I spoke to her on the friday I mentioned that as per our terms and conditions, which are clearly stated on laterooms where she booked, that the whole stay should be charged, however as a gesture of goodwill I only charge for 1 night out of the 2.

You can see from our reviews on many websites that we are a very friendly, family friendly pub which offers bed and breakfast.

If this customer had of stayed im sure that they would have agreed that the rooms are not dirty and shabby looking as people are not walking in and out of these all day and would have appreciated the fact that none of the usual noise generated from a popular family pub can be heard from the bed and breakfast rooms.

a lovely looking old coach house and a room with a stunning view but that is where the pleasure stopped. No maid service in 3 days, appalling breakfast and cold showers - every day! indifferent management but friendly bar staff and our hearts went out to the lady having to serve the terrible breakfast. Couldnt believe the signatire dishes in the italian restaurant were cod or beef and ale pie. The only other plus was free parking. however, Llangollen itself is beautiful

My wife & I stayed for one night on the 12th September 2011. on arriving, the very friendly Irish barman gave us a free 24hour parking permit, so that we were able to park just around the corner, a very short walking distance. He took us up to room 5 on the top floor, which was a large room with one double & one single bed. The room overlooked the one way street in front of the Hotel & we had a wonderful view of Crow Castle on top of the hill, also we could see canal boats going along the canal. The beds were very comfortable, the condiments were well stocked. ( tea, coffee, milk, sugar & bottled water ). The room also had a colour TV, plus outside the room on the landing, there was an iron & ironing board plus hairdryer for our use. The only downside was that the bathroom never had a shower & the bed room & bathroom were in need of refurbishment, but we have been told that the Brewery is going to provide money to get the rooms up to scratch. We had an excellant meal served by a very friendly waitress in the Italian Restaurant downstairs, & then went into the bar for drinks served by a very pleasant barmaid. we joined in the quiz night with some very friendly locals. And next morning had a very nice cooked breakfast, made by a lovely lady who came into the hotel especially to cook it. We were the only guests staying on this particular night. We would have no hesitation in staying here again if we visit Llangollen.

Room Tip: top floor at front of Hotel has best view, also it doesnt overlook the beer garden which can be nois...
