Stayed here last weekend on a groupon deal, so here are the good and bad points
freindly and pleasant staff make you feel very welcome.
rooms clean and comfortable. We had continental breakfast first morning and cooked breakfast the next, both good value for money.
Had evening meal on first night from the menu in the bar which was very good.
second night had a three course meal in restraunt which was also very good.
The bad side is the floors are very creeky and if you are unfortunate to stay beneath the owners appartments take your ear plugs with you constant noise from above.
All in all a pleasant stay but would have been even nicer if we had a good night sleep.

Thank you for reviewing White Waters Country Hotel.

I am pleased that you enjoyed most aspects of your stay. I am delighted that you found the food of good standard and also the service.

I am very sorry to hear you had disturbed sleep and if you would like to return I shall make sure that you have room with nobody above you. We are currently looking at extra soundproofing in the above mentioned room.

I do hope you return for a future visit.

Kind regards

I would like to thank everyone at white waters hotel for the lovely time my husband and i had 22nd & 23rd feb. the weather conspired to spoil it but it is such a beautiful place it failed. The scenery was wonderful , we had a room over looking the river ,so got to see a lot of canoes/ kayaks. this is a family owned and run hotel and you can tell the difference from a chain owned place. the food ( of which there's mountains ) was excellent, the room spotless and comfortable this applied to the place in general. We also did a trip on the steam train (with compartments) and the aqua duct in a narrow boat , an experience! The small town is very pleasant and the people in the shop and cafe's nice and friendly. The little museum is also worth a visit. For the more energetic plenty of walks( mostly up mountains )white water rafting ,canoeing . Its also a good base for exploring around the area.

Stayed last weekend Fri/Sat night, a present from our daughter. A warm and friendly check in on arrival, so a good start.
We upgraded to a river view room 207 which was pleasant with a nice comfortable bed and a great view. The room was cleaned to a high standard and the bathroom was ok but could not have a bath as the hot tap did not work so had to make do with a shower which was fine.
Continental breakfast is the standard, if you want a full English it's an extra £5.95 pp which I opted for, beautifully cooked very large portion, although it came with tinned tomatoes, fresh tomatoes would have been so much nicer. Hubby opted for kippers with a poached egg which he enjoyed.
A lovely 3 course meal in the evening with a nice bottle of wine was served to us by friendly and efficient staff, the owners were also very hands on at breakfast too, which is nice to see.
We both enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar in front of the lovely fire on both evenings.
Would definitely stay here again and would recommend as we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thankyou to all staff for a great relaxing weekend.

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel.

It is wonderful to read your lovely review and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay.

The little problem of the tap not working has been fixed and thank you for letting us know.

It is very much a family concern and it is nice to have the owners about -reassuring in case of any crisis!

We look forward to you returning.

We booked two luxury rooms for christmas presents and where disappointed.
The rooms are nice enough but for the price I would have expected a higher quality finish. The view we paid extra for was obstructed. The bar is too expensive £15 for a bottle of house wine is ridiculous.
The evening meal was ok not brilliant, the breakfast wasnt as described. Hotel creaked so we where woken up by other guests walking around.
When we arrived somebody was painting the exterior walls outside the bedroom and didnt leave, as we felt as though we where being watched so we left the room for a few hours until he had gone.
The location is beautiful, but when visiting again I wouldnt choose this hotel.

Thank you for your review.

I am dismayed to read that you were disappointed with your rooms as our luxury rooms are very popular and frequently requested by our guests. They are all individually furnished and decorated and all have lovely views of the river and surrounding scenery.

Regarding the cost of a bottle of wine I personally think that £15.00 is very reasonable as it is an excellent quality wine chosen to complement our menu's.

Maintenance work was being carried out during your stay but as soon as check-in had started they immediately stopped painting and did not resume until after your departure. It is very difficult as maintenance is constantly needed and is done as and when possible. I am sorry if you felt affected in any way.

Kind regards
