We booked this on a dinner bed and breakfast basis as we didn't fancy an evening trip into Llangollen in the cold!! Arrived at our room which had a balcony overlooking the river. It was quite a small room and we had to ask for a chair to sit on otherwise we had to sit on the bed. We ventured into Llangollen during the day which was a lovely walk and I would say took us 10/15 minutes through the playground and by the river. The bar prices were quite reasonable in hotel standards. We had a good choice of dinner, I had the soup, OH had the pate, we both opted for the pork steaks but we were so disappointed when it arrived as it came with chips, vegetables did come in a separate bowl (with new potatoes in them) but I would have preferred at least some imagination in putting the new potatoes on the plate - we both left the chips. OH said "since when does everything have to come with chips".

We had a very peaceful sleep in a very comfy bed. My only concern was when booking in we had to allocate a time for breakfast - the latest being 9.00 a.m. so we had an early rise in the morning. The waiter at breakfast was very charming but we were disappointed with the food - no croissants, toast you make yourself and cereals. We did not order the full english but I had sausage (undercooked), beans (overcooked) and hash brown (edible).

Credit must go to the head barman - I can't remember his name who we found to be really pleasant and very helpful. We will come back though, won't bother eating there.

The hotel is situated in a stunning location overlooking the river and Dinas Bran. Our room was clean and comfortable except that it was too hot, which was amazing on a very cold January night. We tried to turn the radiator down, but it made no difference to the temperature. The TV reception was poor. We had a choice of Judge Judy, Cbbc and the racing with intermittant BBC1. We had dinner at the hotel. the meal was good and the service prompt. The waitress was miserable and didn't seem to want to be there. But no other complaints about the meal or service.

this was our second stay at the White Waters Hotel, my Wife & I stayed Sunday night for dinner, bed & breakfast. From the greeting at reception when we first arrived nothing was too much trouble to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We booked a room with a view over the River Dee & the view was incredible. Both the evening meal & the breakfastl in the restaurant were superb. If you like your real ale, they served an excellent pint of Wainwrights. If you want an excellent value for money hotel this is the place for you, please ignore previous negative comments. We will be returning for another stay very soon.

A fabulous setting on the edge of town overlooking the river .... and there it ends! - every possible expense has been spared in renovating this tired old palace. Staff were reasonably friendy and efficient but decor let this place down terribly. even where an effort had been made to renovate it looks as if every item was purchased from a pound shop! - i was in the Ceder room - which was large enough but in desperate need of some tlc!
the menu was so poor we decided to eat out in the evening. the breakfast was a very poor excuse of an offering providing tinned fruit only with the normal boxed cereal followed by a cooked breakfast which consisted of the cheapest sausage possible that only tasted of sawdust, hash brown that was congealed fat and beans that looked like they has been cooking for more than a week! - the bacon and the egg were fine. and we were the only diners in the resteraunt!
Dont get taken in by the website...... just book somwhere else would be my recommendation.

I arrived with my two year old in tow along with my mum who is disabled with my Husband joinging us later in the day. Receptionist a little surly (she said we had booked a double and a single, I said we had booked a double and a double for sole use). Took several trips for me to unload the car (3 x bags & travel cot) all the while watched by two young men from the hatch behind reception who were resting on their elbows watching me stuggle in and then upstairs.

Rooms were nice, great views from our double that overlooked the river (huge bed in a wooden frame but can't remember the name of it). TV wasn't working initially but a call to reception and two trips from a member of staff quickly sorted this. Our nights sleep was a tad warm but this was easily sorted with opening the window a touch and listening to the soothing sound of the river.

We booked an dinner early as we had an energetic and loud (!) toddler with us. We arrived at the restautrant and explained we had booked a table to the young chap stood there and ...................... nothing. He didnt lead us to our table or say welcome so we wandered into the restaurant ourselves luckily to be then pointed to our table by another member of staff who happened to be in the restaurant laying tables. Bizarre!

Food was ok - waiter came to take our wine order but we hadn't been given a wine list and we had to ask for the special priced menu that we had seen advertised on their website.

Whilst it was a bit chilly to sit outside you can imagine this being FAB in warmer months, loads of seating, steps down to the river and amazing views to take in.

Agree re the breakfast - there's a decent choice but we were convinced the eggs were powdered and wholeheartedley agree with the previous sausage comments!!!

We'd come back for a night - Llangollen is lovely and this provides an ok base. A few tweaks would make it a brilliant base.
