“Wonderful hotel break!”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

Have just spent a weekend at this lovely hotel. It was warm, welcoming, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Superb breakfast! Good evening menu available to. Although right by RAF Valley, the planes don't fly at weekends but it is an ideal weekday location for plane lovers! Do need a car as it is approx a mile from main rd but you can be at some wonderful beaches and coastline within 10 minutes. Would recommend this hotel and we are looking forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: We had room 2 and this was a lovely room with a view towards Holyhead mountain.

Stayed on and off over a three month period and so managed to stay in most rooms. There are three main areas of accommodation. Upstairs / Downstairs and the adjacent Lodge. Downstairs rooms are generous in size and comfortable but no chance of a mobile signal as this part of the Hotel would be classed as a basement. Upstairs the rooms are substantially smaller but still acceptable, mobile connectivity can still be a hit and miss affair and stools have been positioned by the fire exits at the end of the corridors for mobile users as this is the optimum signal areas. The Lodge also has two floors but the rooms are equally sized and on par with the upstairs in the main Hotel.

The menu has a mix of regulars and specials and as all meals use fresh local ingredients can end up disappearing of the menu early if popular. The staff are all friendly and courteous and are happy to give advice on where to go and what to see on the island.

Room Tip: If a mobile signal is important to you ensure that you get an upstairs room in either the Hotel or t...

Arriving on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon I was collected from the railway station by the owner as I could not find a taxi. The hotel is very welcoming, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard with interesting local specials. Reasonable price. I would certainly stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights in October. Our room was in the annexe, it was clean and comfy. Had a lovely walk down to the beach, which was only 10 minutes away. The breakfast was adequate, staff were very pleasant.

I stayed here two weeks ago and arrived late at night. There was a lovely lady on reception with a gorgeous dog and it was a warm welcome.

The room was clean and nice – no problems. It was in the basement and so a not so nice view of a bush but I was leaving early and so no problem really.

Bed was comfy and TV worked well.
When I got up early the next day the new receptionist was rude and never even managed to look up and say hello on the three occasions I walked past. When I checked out she remained rude and never said Thank you or Goodbye. Charming! Service was also poor in the breakfast room – the young girl there didn’t seem to know or care what was going on.

Holyhead is lovely and the non existent early morning traffic was an absolute treat after working in Liverpool for so long!

Room Tip: Dont stay in the basement!

Two nights on KGB deal. I have many mixed feelings about this hotel. The potential is enormous but it is just falling short at the moment. On arrival very efficient check in, Room was spacious with a door to a shared balcony. The bathroom light over over mirror was not working. A shower in walk in shower resulted in water everywhere over the floor. Bed very comfy. Wi fi was ok too. The bar area was comfortable with excellent service. Free snacks on bar. The restaurant is where it all falls apart. Food is average. at both dinner and breakfast there was a distinct lack of care for the customer. Nobody checked if food if was ok. Meal was put in front of diner rather than served. I witnessed a table where the waitress brought main out before starter finished causing embarrassment to the diners who felt they had to relinquish their starters. Breakfast too was a bit of a fiasco. Kippers served unappetizingly ( they tasted good). Welsh breakfast disappointing. Toaster needs instructions. The staff were lovely they just need guidance. I would return but would eat main meals elsewhere.
