“Celtic Gateway - troubled water....over a bridge !”

Celtic Gateway Bridge
Ranked #14 of 33 things to do in Holyhead
Attraction details
Reviewed 30 July 2013

A wonderful sweeping futuristic stainless steel bridge which links the town centre of Holyhead with its ferry port and railway station, art work is included into the construction, with a series of mosaic features at the town end.

But was it worth £6.2 million for a handful of people to cross every day ( even less in winter !! ) ???

That cash would have been better spent on improving local facilitys for visitors & locals ( like keeping public toilets open )

The "Celtic Gateway" bridge was built by……. Cimolai Spa of Milan Italy !!

An iconic bridge design,…but still a bridge going nowhere.

Nicely preportioned stylish footpassenger bridge with a good view across the inner harbour area of holyhead and is a link to the train station and Ferry terminal from the towns highstreet. Modern lighting at night with blue spotlamps and adjacent a very trendy bar at the high street end. Not essential viewing but nice if your in the area

With unemployment rife in Holyhead the powers to be fabricate and install a 6 million £ eye sore of a bridge that only the locals use .
All the shops and pubs are closing in the town ......the bridge was suppose to be a passenger - tourist gateway from the ferry terminal / train station to the town , but it's in the wrong place and only the locals use it .
Holyhead didn't need a bridge ........the money should have been put into the town .
Shame ........

Only used by locals to cut across the town. be wary of the station end as it has its regular wasters hanging about. lighting fair with a resting spot around halfaway across. disabled freindly as it has a ramp from one level to the next. on reaching the town side, you are greeted with the view of "Bargains Galore" which is the biggest misnomer you will ever see. turn left or right for a vision of how out of town shopping has killed the heart of a town.
