“Appalling treatment of foot passengers”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We took the 2.30 ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare last Saturday, due to arrive at 6.00. The crossing was quite rough however that did not compare to the way we were treated when we arrived at Rosslate. For some unexplained reason there was no gang way available to allow foot passengers to disembark. Instead we were told to wait on the upper deck, level 8, for further announcements. After about 20 mins we were told all foot passengers would be taken to the terminal by bus, however because there was only one bus available it would have to make a number of round trips. To catch the bus we had to lug our luggage down to deck 3, that involved about 6 to 8 flights of stairs. Then we had to stand in a smelly stairway for another 20 mins or so waiting for the bus. Finally we were bussed to the terminal, about 400 metres away to meet our friend who had been waiting there since before 6.00. In all, this shambles of a disembarkation process took a little under an hour. No explanation was given for the absence of the gangway.

Reviewed 26 April 2014

luckily the weather was good and the boat trip was as much part of the day out as being in Dublin itself

“Great trip to Dublin”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

Over Easter and friend and I had a night in Dublin. With family in North Wales it involved a short drive to Holyhead then the ferry across the Irish Sea. For £35 we got a return 24 hour (well 30 hour for us) ticket on the HSS to Dun Laoghaire and back on the normal ferry from Dublin Port the next day. The HSS was excellent, you can walk on and there is plenty of space. Shame it takes an hour longer than I remember. The DART whisked us to Dublin in 20 mins for €3.05. The traditional ferry back was very busy. It cost €12 for a taxi from O'Connell street as there were no buses. Getting on was novel as we took the bus to Holyhead! As I said the ferry was busy and due to a rough nights sleep we paid £30 for a cabin. Well worth it as I got 3 hours sleep!!! A great weekend, with travel reminding me of days pre low cost airlines!

“sail to Ireland”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Stena Line provide an excellent service with food and drink facilities and there is a Retail shop with tax free items, perfumes are a bargain against street prices, the crew are very helpful and Ireland is a wonderful place to visit for shopping or sightseeing.

“irish charm cannot beat it!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

as I live only 8 miles from the port I travel to Ireland quite a lot. over the years day trips have become quite expensive! my advice is to book as early as you can & try to get a fexi ticket as you can change a booking free of charge!
if possible try to get the hss (the fast craft) to dun laoghaire & take the dart to Dublin about 7miles away for 2.50 euros & get off at tara st & then its only a 10 min walk to temple bar! if you get the slow ferry straight to Dublin you will have problems getting from the port to the city as buses run every hr or so if your lucky & then you have to walk across the port to get it! taxis cost a bit so argee a price with the driver before you set off & pay no more then 15 euros.
my best trip is to get over when the 6 nations rugby is on esp when Ireland v wales is on its magic!!
