“Good Value”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

This hotel is cheap to stay at, and convenient for the ferry to Ireland. It has minimal facilities - there is a possibility to order a breakfast box, which is not to be recommended, and there is a drinks vending machine. However, there is a grocery store within 100 yards, together with a McDonalds. Holyhead is not known for its culinary delights, and most pubs are best avoided in the evenings. The hotel is fairly new in appearance, and has the benefit of an elevator. The room is functional, clean, and comfortable, although lighting is a problem as the light behind the bed has been disconnected for health and safety reasons (so I was informed).
My biggest gripe is the exorbitant charge for Wifi access - 10 pounds for 24 hours. Hotels in the US provide this for free, why can't they in the UK? McDonalds provided it for free, however (for the price of a coffee!).

Room Tip: Choose one on the top floor (second in the UK, third in the US!) as the floors are thin, and guests...

Recently refurbished with new beds which are very comfortable. Pleased to see proper pillows instead of the 'pads' in other Lodges, but found them hard to sleep on. Lighting needs improving in the bedroom.

I stayed here with my wife and found it to be pleasant and clean. All staff were friendly and helpful. It was a stop of point on the way to Ireland and I would recommend staying here rather than a certain B&B which we have stayed in before. We were happy.

Travelling up to Holyhead for one night this hotel is fine, room clean, bed spotless, a firm comfortable mattress, TV, tea & coffee facilities, there is a bath but remember to take your own shower gels & shampoo as the only freebie is a tiny soap, room otherwise basic but what do you expect for £33 without breakfast, when I booked I paid for breakfast, next morning I went downstairs expecting a restaurant of some sort but nope! The receptionist handed me a paper box to take back to my room (see photos) I only drank the orange juice. So I went to the 24 hour Tesco at 7:00 in search of breakfast but their breakfast starts at 8:00 so on to Morrison’s to discover they don't open until 8:00 :( the final choice was Asda and you've guessed it they also open at 8:00 if you are getting the ferry like I was the breakfast on board was very good.

There is no bar in this Travelodge but there is a few within a short walk.

Anyone ever watched the Scottish comedy "Still Game" well Holyhead is just like Finnport.

Room Tip: My room was at the rear and was very quiet

We are really pleased to learn you had an enjoyable stay with us Bob-The-Barbour. Unfortunately we do not currently provide toiletries as part of our brand standard, although our customers may purchase any forgotten toiletry items from our vending machines in reception. We’d like to offer our apologies for not being able to provide you with a cooked breakfast; not all of our hotels have a bar café and so we give our customers the option to purchase a breakfast box which contains yoghurt, a cereal bar, muffin and a fruit juice.

Slept here twice while waiting for the early ferry to Dublin.
No food available, (and little good to find in Holyhead).
The room was clean, excellent beds and very close to the ferry port.
Can't complain for the price!

Arrived during bad weather on ferry from Dublin. Too late to travel long distance by train, so checked in to Travelodge. Staff helpful regarding local pubs, etc. Room clean. Bed comfortable. Only problem was that there is nowhere to get breakfast at hotel apart from breakfast box. McD's only 5 min walk so not a big deal!

Had an excellent stay here, there are no negatives, but loads of positives. The staff were very helpful and friendly and gave us exceptional advice on the local area and things to do that would suit our family, the room was toasty and warm when we arrived during awful weather.Would most defintely go back and highly recommend to anyone.
