“Fantastic hotel with first class service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for valentines weekend, and were a little apprehensive of the journey due to the infamous storms and the complaints about the narrow driveway. In fact the hotel was very easy to find and the drive way, although steep, was no issue for our family car.
Unfortunately due to the atrocious weather many bookings had been cancelled, but this did not stop the owners from welcoming us into their hotel.
We had the pick of the rooms and were made to feel welcome straight from our arrival. The room was clean and spacious and very peaceful with stunning views of mount snowdon.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was first class and such good value for money.

The only smallest niggle we had was there was no TV in the room and what with it being such bad weather our evenings were reluctantly spent indoors. However there was plenty of board games and books and a shared Lounge area.

Overall a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. A perfect retreat for a weekend in the country!

We stayed at The Sygun Fawr for our honeymoon . Sygun Fawr is surrounded by beautiful scenery in the heart of the snowdownian national park . Ruth was there to welcome us and show us where we were staying . We had a beautiful room on the ground floor . The bed was so comfy we wanted to take it home with us . We ate in the Sygun Fawr both nights of our stay and the food was excellent with very friendly helpful staff . Breakfast was lovely too with lots of choice .The place has lots of character and the decor is beautiful . We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again .

Room Tip: We had a lovely room on the ground floor . I am disabled and there is a wet room in there .

From the moment we arrived we where made to feel very welcome. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Found a sewing kit for us out of nowhere :-) The food was incredible, the wine even better :-) Room 12 was very clean and homely. The bed was HUGE and very comfy. Overall our stay was made even better by a superb hotel. Thank you!

Perfectly pitched service - friendly, relaxed and extremely helpful. Excellent choice of vegan starters and main courses offered each evening, plus soya milk/margarine at breakfast, etc. Cosy sitting areas, board games, books, up-to-date weather information for walkers, and beautiful views. The walk/run down to Beddgelert and through the pass is easy and charming. The only improvements to be made would be on room upkeep, but everything else is superb. We've now visited twice, and hope to return again before long. Thank you Ruth and team!

Second time recently at Sygun Fawr and just as good. Ruth Evans and her team manage to create such a homely atmosphere with exceptional service – not over stated – and quite wonderful food – so the whole experience added up to three days of feeling pampered.

My six year old boy and eleven year old girl loved “staying up for dinner” and the gardens with their nooks and crannies and like the rest of us were spoilt rotten by the staff.

Rooms remain very well equipped & spotlessly clean.

You know you think about places you’ve stayed at – remember some well and others not so. When I think of Sygun Fawr I immediately smile.

Wonderful and highly recommended.

Beautifully situated characterful house just outside of Beddgelert with stunning views all around. The accommodation is clean, warm and comfortable with spacious bedrooms plus areas to sit and relax, a TV room and a small, well-stocked bar.
The quality and choice for breakfast was excellent and the evening meal delicious and plentiful.
The owners were very friendly and relaxed and able to offer good advice about some beautiful walks in the surrounding area.
Looking forward to our next visit.

I have stayed at Sygun Fawr several times over the years and my experiences there have always been pleasant and enjoyable. The owners are friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent and the guesthouse itself is charming and retains several character features that you can expect from a traditional Welsh country house.

The rooms are always tidy and well kept. There are no televisions in the rooms but this is refreshing for me, as it has encouraged me to leave my room and explore the village of Beddgelert and the surrounding countryside, which is breathtakingly beautiful.

The guest house has a quirky little bar, which is an added bonus, as not all B&Bs are equipped with such a luxury!

The owners are very friendly and welcoming and will try to go that extra mile to make your stay more comfortable.

The village of Beddgelert is a short walk away from the guest house and is a quaint little village containing several shops, restaurants and pubs. It also has an ice cream parlour, which is a particular favourite of mine.

I would recommend Sygun Fawr to couples/families looking to holiday in the beautiful Welsh countryside and perhaps visit Snowdonia and climb the mountains that are only a short car journey from the guest house.

You will not be disappointed if you stay here!

Room Tip: Ask the owners to recommend their best room.
