“Lovely family hotel ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for two nights in July, it was a lovely place to stay. The positives, your a two minute walk from the town, and for my husband who is a steam train enthusiast, a 5 minute walk from the train station. You can get a quick journey on the steam train up the track and back. A few negatives, well very slight negatives, they allow people keep they're dogs in the hotel, which I don't love, but is understandable when you hear about the story of bedlegert.. :-) but despite the fact people have their dogs stay there, the place was spotless and other than actually hearing the odd bark at night, you would barely notice the dogs there.. The room was lovely, high ceilings, spacious rooms, very clean. And quieter than you might think, especially as it's next to the road. The food in my opinion was just ok.. Not a great variety. The staff were all lovely and very welcoming. We would definitely stay here again..

“Just OK”

We had dinner here and found the service a bit slow & disinterested, and the food just OK, not memorable.

“liked the name”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Chose the hotel purely by its name, a pleasant find. Rooms were very clean and well equipped. Food in the evening was excellent, great choice at breakfast. Nicely kept Real Ale! Staff were polite and helpful at all times. Would visit again!!

“Most comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

This has got to be the most comfortable place to eat in this very busy village. We have not stayed at the Hotel but each time we have eaten there we have felt like guests. The bar is well stocked and the seating at the tables is extremely comfortable with waitress service. We have eaten lunch here twice after routinely checking out the other options and we have not been disappointed. The home made food is good value and well serasoned and presented. On a wet summers day we had a warm welcome here - there is a terrace at the front where (on better days) you can watch all the activity. They have an option to refund parking for their area across the busy road or there is plenty of room in the public pay & display by the steam railway stop (worth a trip but pricey). Given the level of service we would consider staying here in future.
