“Get lost Ireland!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2014

I stayed at this b&b last year in august with my partner at the time and i had previously spent the weekend before in Ireland and i have to say that Ireland was a complete joke in comparison to Wales! If i talk about the two countries in football terms then i would describe Wales as Messi and Ireland as Bobby Zamora. Wales was just a brilliant place to be and this b&b was great. The hostess was great, she did everything for me. I cant quite remember her name but i think it was Barry which is quite a peculiar name for a woman if you ask me! But putting the hostesses name aside this place was the perfect getaway and i highly recommend it over ireland!

Brilliant place to stay. Bev is the perfect, thoroughly professional host. The house was friendly and comfortable, and spotlessly clean.

It's a short walk from the centre of town. Though it is on the A5 you can park outside the front door – and we weren't bothered by traffic noise in the slightest.

And Betws-y-Coed is a lively small town, with a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Though, as I wrote, traffic noise wasn't an issue, you might prefer a room at the back of the ho...

After a very long drive from Exmouth to Wales, we received a really warm welcome from Bev and a very much appreciated hot drink, even though it was 10pm! This guest house has a very homely feeling and we were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was super and plenty to set you up for an active day ahead. Perfect location for Snowdon and Joe was able to give us lots of helpful information to plan the day and weather updates really useful.

Friendly hosts, comfortable room and super, super clean. What's not to like?

I stayed here with a friend for a couple of nights and we loved it! Betws-y-Coed is such a beautiful place to stay. There were some gorgeous little shops, nice pubs and great restaurants.
Joe and Bev were really friendly and welcoming, we stayed in Room 1 Twin, and the beds were really comfortable and both the room and bathroom were spotless clean. There were bottled water/biscuits/chocolates/ tea and coffee facilities provided in the room. Breakfast was lovely, a great start to each day. Bev offered to fill our flasks to take with us which kept us going throughout the day. Joe and Bev were very attentive and made sure we always had everything we needed to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

You really couldn't beat the level of comfort and service we received.

Me and My Hubby have just had 3 great nights with Bev and Joe at Bod Gwynedd.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome the whole stay was so relaxed and what a great time we had.
Joe cooked a wonderful breakfast that set you up for a full days walking in this beautiful place.
Bev recommended place to visit and also great places for dinner.
The room we stayed in was room 1 on the ground floor. The room was spotless clean and very nicely decorated. The refreshment tray was always really well stocked with tea, coffee and nice extras of hot chocolate and fab little biscuits and mints.
We had a wonderful time we will defiantly see you again.

There seemed to be a lot of B&Bs along the same road and nearby in Betws-y-Coed, but I think we made a good choice.

The location was a little further out from the "centre" where most of the restaurants and shops are, but this was nice, since it was quiet and nearer to Swallow Falls. You could still walk into the centre easily. I'd say it's longer than the 5 minutes mentioned on their website, maybe 5 or 10 to the first restaurant, but longer to the rest - but still not far for most people visiting the area, who would probably be expecting to walk a lot.

It was also well situated for a riverside or forest walk, and in a pretty location. Swallow Falls is a long walk or a short drive away.

The shower was excellent (powerful and easy to control the temperature, glass screens which don't allow a wet floor like you get in some hotel rooms). Though there was no blind on the window. I know it was quite deserted and we weren't on the ground floor, but until the glass of the window and shower screens steamed up, I didn't feel totally relaxed. Maybe that was just me though.

The bathroom was a little small, but fine for a short stay and still well equipped. Sounds silly, but I was glad there was a toilet brush (don't like there being none, forgot to mention there wasn't in my previous Welsh B&B).

The cooked breakfast was very good. We found the sausages a little strange (peppery) but this is just personal taste. Nicely cooked eggs (fried and poached were best). Good selection of cereals, juices etc. It's a little limiting to choose which cooked items you want the night before, but I suppose it means it's cooked quicker for you. The choice of times was nice.

Coffee and tea making facilities in the room were good, and after the first night, I asked for mini milk sachets instead of creamer, which I got. There would have been milk in the fridge downstairs if we'd wanted, too.

The four poster bed was fun and romantic, as expected. My husband felt the mattress was a bit odd, but I slept fine and didn't mind it. The decoration in the room was all tasteful and pretty. The only bad point was probably that there wasn't much space for two suitcases (or to unpack much clothing), though we did manage.

Good to have the local area leaflets in the hallways. Specific parking is quite limited, though there is space on the road in front.

Bev was friendly and helpful, able to help with advice on the local area (including where to eat and the offer to reserve a table for us) and even gave us home-made Welsh cakes as we left. Thanks for an enjoyable stay!

Stayed end of November
2013 for 2 nights for a walking trip. Can't fault this place. Immaculately presented. Plenty of heat. Excellent shower. Really good breakfast. Friendly owners. Can't imagine there is better accommodation in Betws y Coed.
