“A True Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

I have stayed at this bunkhouse twice now. Used it for both my holidays in 2013. Firstly was in March was me a single female with 4 lads and then in August with my boyfriend.

I have stayed at a fair few youth hostels and bunkhouses but nothing beats the warm welcome you get from Mark and the rest of the staff when you go to The Vagabond. The house itself is very homely with a good sized kitchen and dining area to chill out in. The bar is a lovely place to kick back and have a drink with fellows walkers/climbers/cyclers. Infact the first time we stayed here we managed to convince, on our first night, a fellow traveller to bring himself and his guitar inside out from the cold and play for all of us in the bar. At that point I think my friends and I knew that we had picked a gem here.
The care Mark and his staff have for The Vagabond and it's customers shows in its upkeep. The Vagabond has all the essentials needed for a wary walker to rest their head after a long day.
I would recommend this bunkhouse to anyone going to north wales not just for its facilities, cleanliness and value for money but the care the staff have for their customers, new and old.
I look forward to seeing you again in 2014!

Excellent accommodation for a lads weekend away, really nice. friendly and helpful staff. I'd advise making sure your organiser can read, or at least one of the group isn't too idle to double check details; IMPORTANT NOTE breakfast is 9AM finish, not 9.30. We were given full refunds for the breakfast and consolation prize from the bar. Also if you go to LLanrwst, preorder a taxi for your return journey and avoid the launderette.

A group of 3 friends and I stayed in The Vagabond for the first time on Friday evening. It was warm, inviting and cosy. The bar was nice, but probably needed a few more bottles of the local grog, but was good anyway. The rooms are clean, tidy and warm.
We enjoyed a good breakfast on the following morning which set us up for a great days walking in Snowdonia. This place is basic but all you need for a group of walkers not wanting to spend loads of dosh.
The location is just a 5 minute walk from the pub which served great food. We will use this place again. Thanks very much.

A friendly place that is well run, very clean and convenient. There's a dry room which is handy and good self catering facilities. A went at a very quiet time but can see that it would be a very sociable place in peak times.

Two of us stayed here in November 2013 for a walking weekend in Snowdon. A friendly welcome and warm rooms.A small bar for apres walk beer and easy walk to Pubs and Food in town. The breakfast was a full English and tasty.

The bunk rooms were more than your basic rooms, warm and clean with shower room on the ground floor (not the hottest)...

Our late arrival on Friday was no problem and keys were left in the Key Safe with clear instructions.

The nightly rate for the room was good and we certainly felt we got our money's worth.

All round an excellent find for a weekend in the mountains with friendly staff!

(Note the bar shuts at 10:30 so no late night noise, which is a bonus)

Having stayed in the main house a few times before with friends Mark (the more than helpful manager) suggested that my girlfriend and I may like to sample the secluded and all together more private Cabin. Lovely is all, it's a wooden summerhouse style cabin with a large double bed and separate from the main house. A slight down side is the walk to the main house for use of the facilities but, as always, a filling, hot breakfast with some of the tastiest bacon I've had awaited on both mornings and the bar in the evenings was its usual cosy, warm and well stocked self.

I've visited the Vagabond a few times now, usually with a group of friends for a MTB or walking weekend but more recently with my other half and another couple. Have to say that it is a great place to stay; rooms are clean and tidy, shower facilities are great (plus the privacy policy for women is really helpful), dry room is really useful, breakfast is amazing, the bar is definitely a great place to relax after a long day. Mark and his Team can't do enough for you, you feel welcome and we'll looked after as soon as you arrive. An amazing atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
