The main reason for our stay in the hostel was to climb up Snowdon. The hostel is on top of a traditional pub, but its really well isolated from noise. The staff is friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and well kept. For example, the bathrooms were very clean and the kitchen was neat.

The location is great, the small town has an air of beautiful country side atmosphere.

We really enjoyed our stay and I would fully recommend the place.

Located in the lovely quiet village of Penmachno, it is adjacent to the forrest for walks or mountain-biking. Very clean with spacious bathroom and self-catering kitchen, it was ideal for saving a few quids while getting the calories in. The owner was very helpful and the bar downstairs was a bonus.

Room Tip: double rooms are compact but neat.

Clean room, kitchen and bathroom with excellent facilities. Gerry and Linda both very welcoming and spent the evenings in the bar drinking good ales. Great location for walking; in a remote location but not far from shops in Betws-y-coed. Enjoyed Penmachno bike trail, some parts are not for the faint hearted! In the heart of North Wales, this place is great for those wanting to spend a few days experiencing the best of Snowdonia with friends/family.

Stayed here with a friend last week when doing some walking in North Wales. Gerry and Linda were excellent hosts- nothing was too much bother and very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were extremely clean, light and spacious with very comfortable beds. The shared, well equipped kitchen was an added bonus, and enabled us to cook for ourselves. Would highly recommend for people needing an affordable place to stay in Snowdonia- perfect for walkers, mountain bikers and anybody wanting to make the most of this area.

Stopped at The Eagles Penmachno last weekend, 4 guys on a walking trip to Snowdon. Lovely place to stay. Very clean, excellent rooms, great for self catering. Bar was brilliant, great real ale. Only negative, no food available at all. Needed taxis into Betws-y-coed, otherwise excellent. Gerry and Linda very nice hosts.

very clean, fresh linen. Basic but more than suitible for our needs. Clean and well maintained shared amenities. Friendly pub below. All situated in very quaint surroundings so a very quiet undisturbed sleep. Parking can be difficult as it is shared with the chapel across the way, but we were out all day and only back late at night but managed to find a small spot each time.
If you're lucky, as we were one morning, you will see the farmer in his tractor, dogs in the back, chasing rogue sheep through the lanes!

My sister and I arrived 2 hours later than planned and were given a warm welcome. We were helped to our room, advised about parking and shown around. We were astonished by the beautifully equipped, immaculately clean kitchen (I know I am too fussy, so this is an accolade!)
Our twin room No. 9 was comfortable, basic, but with everything we needed. We were able to cook our suppers and breakfasts with ease and eat in the lovely kitchen- we had brought the food with us, so no need to try to shop. It was a chilly evening but the whole building was snuggly warm and cosy.

Room Tip: We enjoyed room 9, twin room close to bathroom and kitchen. No noise at night.
