So many to choose from in Betws but my friend and I felt we made the ideal choice, lovely situation, very friendly host and hostess, great rooms and en-suite showers and the breakfast delicious whether cooked or continental, plenty of choice. What more do you want??

Marilys Guest House is rated four-star, incorrectly in my opinion. Our room was so small we left one suitcase out in the hall until we went to bed so we would have room to move around. It contained only one small chair, and the tea supplies and electric kettle were on a tiny shelf, to be used only with difficulty. The shower was triangular in shape, less than half the size of an average one, with barely enough room to turn around or raise one's arms. The toilet seat parted company from the rest of the commode in the middle of the night. For this room, we were charge 75 pounds, even though we had been told the rate was 35 pounds per person. To increase our annoyance, the owner added a fee for using Master Card, "because my bank charges me." Marilys was the most expensive B&B at which we stayed and our only unfortunate guest house/hotel experience in our three-week tour of Wales. I would not recommend it.

Mary’s Court Guest House (Mairlys) has been under new ownership since March 2014 and we’re sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at the Guest House prior to this. Whilst I cannot comment directly about your experience with the previous owners I can assure you that a lot of improvements to our rooms have taken place, and continue to do so, since we took over. I can also assure you, and future guests, that we ‘do not’ add a fee to guests who use a credit card to pay on departure. We also check our rates regularly and compare favourably to other 4 star Guest Houses in the village. We do hope that the experience has not put you off visiting this stunning part of Wales and hopefully you may consider booking at the Guest House again now that it is under new ownership.

Lynn & David.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights over a long weekend in October for our first wedding anniversary and can't recommend it highly enough. Our room had all the basic necessities and was clean and well-presented, and the lovely hot shower was very reviving after a hard day's walking in Snowdonia! The breakfast options were great and the cooked breakfast with local bacon and sausage was a belly buster which set us up for the day. The owners were great - we got a weather update each morning which was very useful for planning our day, and they were full of local knowledge and advice. The location within Betws-y-Coed is great too - just a couple of minutes away from the centre of the village and close to all the restaurants and cafes etc. Overall, highly recommended!

I had a lovely welcome to Mairlys guest house. It had a real home from home feeling. The room was extremely comfortable, and the choice of breakfast great. Mr Owen is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to both the local and wider area. Mrs Owens cooking is great. I highly recommend.

My girlfriend and I cant recommend this well located and friendly B&B enough! Situated in a prime location for walks around the Betws area and beyond. Tasty breakfasts and knowledgeable staff. What more could a pair of Londoners want?

Room Tip: Room 2 has a lovely balcony

Really comfortable room, lovely decor and great shower. An amazing full English breakfast with a great choice of other options when we didn't feel like a fry up. Beautiful house in beautiful Betws!

Room Tip: must try the bacon.
