“Curry Night”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

We always pop into this friendly hotel for drinks when we visit Betws y Coed. We spotted a sign advertising a curry buffet - all you can eat. £10 per person every night. Thought we would give it a try, oh goodness best curry i have had in ages. £10 got you starters, naan bread, poppadoms, rice and choice of veggie and meat curries, all different heats. eat as much as you like. Bar is very friendly, infact have watched rugby internationals here with the locals and have always been made to feel very welcome, they even made room for us to sit with them. Give this hotel a visit drinks, curry or hotel normal food menu, you will be very pleased.

Every time! I use the Glan Aber most years with my Duke of Edinburgh groups. I've also stayed there on numerous occasions with my wife and also used it for a quiet New Years Eve. I have stayed in the Hotel part and also the Bunkhouse. The staff are friendly and professional and the breakfast is great. The new revamped bar and pool room is fantastic. A great stay which I recommend to others.

We enjoyed our short stay in Betws y Coed and apart from the busy A5 the hotel was OK, but the meal on the first night - oh dear! The menus, like all restaurants, are designed to a budget, but one of our meals (2 courses) was very poor (tasteless and barely warm) and we decided we would not eat there again, as the food was less than mediocre and poor value. The Indian buffet in the other bar area (separate enterprise) however was very good value and worth a visit.

Room Tip: A room not on the front and the A5

We didn't stay here as we were at a campsite up the road, but we happened to stop by for the all you can eat buffet. For £10 per person I was expecting mediocre food. In reality the food was very good. There was a choice of samosas and tandoori chicken for starters along with the usual salad and sauces, along with as many popadoms as u can eat. Main course was a choice of 3 curries (including vegetarian) and 1 rice. Not a big selection but I cannot fault the food. Will definitely be going back to eat when we visit again.

Lovely food, nice bar and lovely staff, all very helpful. My only moan is they need to upgrade the rooms as they are a little tired. Mould on the bathroom blind and the shower was not nice, it really would take much to make it special :-)
Saying that I would stay again.

We stayed for 2 nights - using a Groupon voucher. The decor is a little dated but our room was very clean and spacious. We were made welcome from the moment we stepped through the door and found all staff to be pleasant . We had breakfast on both mornings which was ample. We ate in the hotel one night which was good value and also tried the bistro up the road which was also good value. Our Groupon voucher entitled us to a free afternoon tea. We were also given vouchers by the hotel for a free drink and another for a free drink if we purchased food. The hotel is in a very good location and has free car parking. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 5 was light and spacious.
