Ate at the Ty Gwyn for the fiancé's 30th Birthday whilst staying in the Best Western in Betws-y-Coed. The Ty Gwyn is outside of the town, however only a short distance from the Best Western.
We had considered eating here earlier in the holiday but it didn't have much curb-side appeal to draw us in. However after a Snowdon climb another pub owner fiercely recommended we go to Ty Gwyn and said it was the best restaurant in the area- and I would have to agree!
The atmosphere is great- we sat in the bar/lounge area as opposed to the restaurant, it was reminiscent of someone's living room but it a good way... mismatched furniture, slouchy chairs, low ceilings, rooms leading into other rooms etc.
I liked the place immediately and then our steaks come out! I rarely eat anything other cut of steak than fillet and only in restaurants so my standards would be quite high and I can honestly say it was the best steak I can remember eating.
It would be a crime to visit the area and not to eat here!!More
