“Excellent as always, but!”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

As always the Stables Lodge provides excellent accommodation adjacent to the main hotel. Rooms are clean, newly refurbished and of a high standard. Food from the Stables bar is excellent, very good service and friendly staff.

The only down side was the room we stayed in was 114 and I think adjacent to a family room which had thin walls and meant that you could hear conversations especially after midnight!

A gentle tap on the wall brought the desired result (for a while).

I would recommend the Stables, however if you want a quiet room ask for one away from a family room.

We stayed here for my birthday. Yes, you have to use reception at the adjoining hotel, but that's not a problem.
The room was clean, big enough to enjoy and the bathroom very good. Only real niggle with the room was that the TV was so far away from the bed you needed binoculars...lol

The main issue here however is the church next door, although its beautiful it rings out the time every hour, and i mean EVERY HOUR, even through the night, so it woke us up every hour making a lengthy stay here impossible.
Nothing the hotel can really do, but there's no way i could stay here again because of the lack of sleep, very unfortunate.

Ideal location, no grumbles about the room we had,Note on other reviews that some of the niggles were about the lack of a receptionist, didnt bother me because the reception in Royal Oak served the Stables as well and was only a free phone call away.

We had previously stayed in the Stables Lodge but the rooms have been refurbished since then. We were in 114 which was above the shop a little away from the main bar area. The room was perfectly adequate with a comfy double bed, TV, generous supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, hairdryer and decent storage for a couple of nights. The only slight niggle was there was only one bed side table.
We checked in at the Royal Oak hotel and received our keys. The only negative of our stay was the welcome at reception where the staff seemed more interested in sniggering than booking us in. I'm not sure what they found so amusing andit was off putting.
Staff experience aside it was a good stay and much cheaper than the actual hotel. The Lodge is central to the town so it is easy to park up and explore on foot. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning it was slightly cheaper to book ahead. The breakfast was Ok but nothing special. We enjoyed breakfast in the Alpine cafe the second morning which was nicer. We had dinner in the Stables Bistro one night that was tasty although busy. There were plenty of staff including a very nice old lady with grey hair who was friendly and almost made up for reception experience. We did enjoy sitting outside under the patio heater people watching and there was live music both nights.

Room Tip: away from the bar area if you are a light sleeper!

We went for a spontaneous trip into Snowdonia and were in need of a room for the night. At reception of the Royal Oak Hotel we were met by very nice staff who offered us the choice of staying in the Hotel or the Lodge. They managed to include breakfast for us for a reasonable price, so we agreed and checked in. All of this took less than 5 minutes. Perfect customer service. The room was very spacious and clean. We had a great stay in the Lodge. I can only recommend this hotel.

Have visited Betws-y-Coed many times but never stayed the night. The lodge is attached to the local hotel- Royal Oak- in the main street through the town. Staff seemed friendly and organised and checked in at reasonable time. Room was excellent and well appointed, looked refurbished and the bathroom was nice and modern. Plenty of heat and a comfortable bed after walking- plenty of walks near the town too- no need to go straight to the higher mountains. Breakfast was served in main hotel conservatory. Really good food and efficiently served. Evening food available in main hotel- bit busy on a Friday night, so tables hard to find. However, additional entertainment in form of male voice choir...so all good. worth a visit and I felt the price was very reasonable. Can imagine its busy in the summer here. would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back are quieter but no view. Rooms to the front more interesting.

Firstly when we booked the lady on the phone said she had included a complimentary breakfast when we booked, we found this wasn't the case and the staff seemed offended that we had asked about it.

Second to this we where given out key and told to find our room, which considering it was in a complete different building was some what annoying!

On first impressions the room seemed comfortable, although we found the top of the headboard and mirrors to have a lot of dust on them and several of the lights did not work. Other than this there were not major issues with the room.
