“Relaxing break”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Recently stayed at the Afon Gwyn for 4 nights. Friendly welcome and shown to our gorgeous room on the ground floor. Everything we needed in the bedroom from the well-stocked refreshment tray, complimentary slippers and excellent quality toileteries. Our room had the advantage of direct access to the well-kept back garden where I spent each morning enjoying the tranquility of the birdsong whilst having my first coffee of the day. Very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space.
Although we were the only guests for the first 3 nights we were still treated to an excellent and varied selection at breakfast. Beautiful fresh fruit and home-made yoghurt, cereals and juice followed by a very good choice of cooked fayre.
Would definitely recommend to friends.

Excellent host, food, beautiful rooms. I can't recommend this place highly enough. There were 5-6 breakfast choices to choose from, and we tried all of them which were all equally tasty! Short drive to the Bewts y Coed town centre where you can find restaurants and shops etc. I bought some fruits from supermarket and left it on the window to keep cool and the host provided with a mini fridge which was lovely. The rooms are cleaned and towels changed everyday which is rare for b&bs, all Egyptian cottons. We stayed in the Sorrel Suite which was spacious with large bathroom. I don't normally want to stay in the same accommodation because I like to try new things but next time I am definitely coming here again as everything is five star, better than some hotels!

I can only second the last previous reviews - Gareth and Rana were very hospitable and friendly Rooms were excellent. Great breakfast. We also eat at the Ty Gwyn Restaurant which is nearby and had a fantastic meal. Great walks in and around Betws y Coed. Will definitely be back.

Myself and my partner stayed for a long weekend in the Alice Suite - beautiful decor and very spacious.

We were greeted by the owner, Gareth, on arrival and offered a pot of tea, which was lovely.

Having read some of the very few bad reviews of this place they do seem to centre around the old owners, who I believe left earlier in the summer this year - the current owners are friendly, sensible and attentive.

Excellent breakfast, lovely super king bed and large bathroom. The only slight downside is the walk back from town at night (in daylight it's a beautiful woodland road stroll) as the road is unlit and dark (there are torches in the room to borrow though). Easy enough to book a taxi, however.

Would definitely recommend this to everyone.

The opening paragraph of Afon Gwyn's home page reads "Welcome to Afon Gwyn, our luxury boutique bed and breakfast, situated in the beautiful hills of Snowdonia" and it certainly is exactly this.
This was our 2nd visit after 2 years and we were a little apprehensive as there had been a change in ownership. BUT our apprehension disappeared immediately when we were met by Gareth who showed us to the stunning Alice Suite,we had previously stayed in the equally beautiful Sorrel Suite and we felt at home straight away, .
On our first morning we were greeted by Gareth who showed us to our breakfast table on which sat a lovely birthday cake for my wife who was celebrating her birthday that day, I had happened to mention this when I spoke to Rana earlier to reconfirm our booking and also ask them to book dinner for us at Ty Gwn just down the road and thoroughly recommended.
Breakfast's were amazing, fantastic fresh produce beautifully cooked by Rana and served by Gareth.
We wish Gareth and Rana every success in their new venture and for the future!!! We are sure you will be a success and will definitely stay with you on our next visit to North Wales.

Room Tip: Non - all rooms are amazing.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night in June in the Alice Suite.
It was one of the best B&B's I have stayed in for a long time.

On arrival we had a fantastic warm welcome from Tim, the house is gorgeous and our room was fantastic. Tim had kindly booked us dinner at the local pub (which he had offered to do on booking) which was great given the fact I was overseas at the time of booking and everything was a bit short notice.

Having arrived just after we had climbed Snowdon, my first task was to jump into the bath for a glorious long soak. The bathroom offered locally produced bathing products which were a real treat. There was also a good range of tea's and coffee's on offer in the room and the snack cupboard down stairs was a gem for the late night nibbles.

The next morning breakfast was wonderful, we could not have asked for better.
Even though we had only stayed for one night we were sorry to be leaving.

We would be delighted to have the opportunity to stay here again if we were ever in the area.

This is one of the best B&B’s I’ve stayed at within a great location.

A warm and welcoming greeting from the owners who made you feel at home.

This was a beautifully decorated B&B with each of the rooms differing in style and décor. The Rupert suite was warm, comfortable, spacious and classily decorated.

The cooked breakfast was tasty and there were plenty of other choices available such as fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals.

This was an overall great experience and a B&B I will return to again.
