What a wonderful place to stay. I booked this as a surprise birthday treat for my husbands 60th birthday. He was over the moon. We had a warm and friendly welcome from the owners Gareth and Rana who are lovely. We stayed in the Alice Suite. Wow! A real luxury room, with double aspect views over the garden and the river, an amazing super king size bed, comfortable sofa and armchair and table and chairs. Every detail had been paid attention to, from the welcome tray of coffee on our arrival to the toiletries, bath robes, slippers, hospitality tray and more. We bought some wine to have in the room one evening and a wine cooler was instantly provided. The breakfasts are delicious, a choice of full English, amazing waffles, eggs benedict and more together with cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. A brilliant relaxing start to the day set in a beautiful light room overlooking the lovely garden. The whole hotel is lovely, really nice lounge and entrance hall. We felt cared for and special the minute we stepped through the door. I cannot thank Gareth and Rana for making our 5 night stay so amazing. Nothing was ever too much trouble. I will never be able to recommended this place to stay highly enough. It's more than 5 star. We have already booked to return to this home away from home next year.

Room Tip: Double aspect, bright and sunny and very spacious.

I am so pleased my friend found Afon Gwyn - the most delightful boutique B & B one could imagine: the location so peaceful and our room had its own private garden - Japanese style! Very comfortable beds, lovely toiletries, interior-designer fabrics and much more. Breakfasts very high standard with fresh fruits and all accoutrements. We were made so welcome by the owners and I felt we had known them for ever. A nice touch were the complimentary slippers for use in the house. A very high recommendation - CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK.

Room Tip: If you want the garden, then chose ground floor. However, the upstairs suites are simply out of thi...

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at Afon Gwyn. My partner had booked this as a surprise weekend away and we were not disappointed. The property is set in the most magical setting, with beautiful walks on the doorstep and a short walk into Betws-y-Coed with its lovely little shops and restaurants.

On arrival we were greeted by our lovely hosts, Gareth and Rana and shown to our beautiful room (Robinson suite) which was very much of 5 star standard. With gorgeous complimentary toiletries, contemporary bathroom suite and exceptionally comfy bed, it was a real treat. Our room had direct access onto the sweet little garden which would be lovely to sit out with a glass of wine on a summers evening. I was also surprised with a lovely bottle of champagne and strawberries which was a lovely touch!

I cannot praise Gareth and Rana enough. The breakfasts were delicious and nothing was ever too much trouble, including arranging bookings at the local restaurants. It really felt a home away from home.

Thank you both very much for a very special weekend, we will be back to visit you again soon.

Room Tip: We lived the Robinson suite, at the back of the property with direct access onto the garden.

Recently stayed at the Afon Gwyn for 4 nights. Friendly welcome and shown to our gorgeous room on the ground floor. Everything we needed in the bedroom from the well-stocked refreshment tray, complimentary slippers and excellent quality toileteries. Our room had the advantage of direct access to the well-kept back garden where I spent each morning enjoying the tranquility of the birdsong whilst having my first coffee of the day. Very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space.
Although we were the only guests for the first 3 nights we were still treated to an excellent and varied selection at breakfast. Beautiful fresh fruit and home-made yoghurt, cereals and juice followed by a very good choice of cooked fayre.
Would definitely recommend to friends.

Excellent host, food, beautiful rooms. I can't recommend this place highly enough. There were 5-6 breakfast choices to choose from, and we tried all of them which were all equally tasty! Short drive to the Bewts y Coed town centre where you can find restaurants and shops etc. I bought some fruits from supermarket and left it on the window to keep cool and the host provided with a mini fridge which was lovely. The rooms are cleaned and towels changed everyday which is rare for b&bs, all Egyptian cottons. We stayed in the Sorrel Suite which was spacious with large bathroom. I don't normally want to stay in the same accommodation because I like to try new things but next time I am definitely coming here again as everything is five star, better than some hotels!
