“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

We cannot recommend the Afon Gwyn Country House and its hosts enough. The house is set in beautiful surroundings; with extremely welcoming hosts for who nothing was too much trouble; the accommodation was to a;high standard of decor and cleanliness, with such attention to detail throughout. The quality of the breakfasts were outstanding. We hope to re-visit when next in North Wales and will definitely recommend it to all family and friends.

Room Tip: All rooms had aspects to be recommended, and all were to a very high standard.

My husband and I have just returned to Canada from Wales. One of the highlights of our trip was our 4 nights stay at Afon Gwyn Country House.Gareth and Rana are exceptional hosts, from the moment we arrived until we left made us so welcome. We stayed in the White room, witch was decorated in a perfect balance, the tray with delicious treats were a lovely touch as were the generous toiletries in the bathroom. breakfast in the sunny conservatory was the highlight of the day with fresh fruit, juice homemade yogurt, full English. We would highly recommend this B&B to all our friends, and hopefully we we return in the not too distance future.

We stayed in this lovely country house last week. It was an amazing experience. We were greeted by Gareth, who offered to help with our bags, and then showed us around everywhere.
Our choice was the Robinson room. It is on the ground floor with access to the small garden. Gareth brought us a tray of tea, which we had out there.
The whole place was spotless, with coordinating furnishings and a lovely modern bathroom with lots of toiletries. The king sized bed was super comfortable, with lots of pillows. There was everything available, including plenty of tea/coffee etc., bottle opener, wine glasses, books and television. (Wifi available in the comfortable lounge)
Breakfast was in the conservatory, superbly cooked by Rana.
We hope to return again. The great hospitality shown by Gareth and Rana made it very special.

This was our second visit to Afon Gwyn (mid May), first time being 3 years ago. Rana and Gareth were welcoming and friendly hosts and we felt well looked after.
We stayed in the Alice Suite (the Sorrell Suite previously). Both lovely, clean, spacious rooms.
Gareth went the extra mile and arranged with the local restaurant reservations for our evening meal. This being one of the many courtesies shown by the hosts. Excellent choice/variety of breakfasts offered.
We hope to visit again, sometime in the near future.
Linda and Grahame Wilson, Wakefield

Room Tip: If you like a spacious room, opt for the Alice Suite or the Sorrell Suite.

We were greeted by Gareth with a pot of tea on arrival. Can't fault anything about this B & B it was immaculate, had friendly hosts and set in a peaceful location. The breakfasts were top quality and plenty of it. We stayed in the white room which was very comfy and spacious. Will definitely go back.

Thanks Daniel & Lorraine

Room Tip: Stay in the white room

This was our second break at Afon Gwyn, the first being just after Rana and Gareth took over in 2013.

Once again we were delighted with everything, from the warm genuine and friendly hosts to the fantastic Robinson Room overlooking/ with direct access to the gravel/shrub garden .
As always the room was spotlessly clean and fresh and the king-size bed was sooooooo comfy.

Their famous breakfasts are deliciously different: home-made yoghurt, kiwi/blueberry/ strawberry/pineapple are the fresh fruit to have alone or with cereal. The cooked breakfast follows and there's several choices if you don't fancy the full Welsh breakfast (but you should try it - very highly recommended).

Definitely 5 stars all round at Afon Gwyn - every time.

We will return again next year if not earlier.

This is a bit of luxury at a sensible price. The place is immaculate but welcoming, warm and friendly. Gareth and Rana cannot do enough for you and it is like staying with friends. The breakfast is very special with lots of choice and generous portions. The location is a very short walk from the village centre with plenty to do and lots of choice for eating. Would have no reservations about recommending this for a short or long stay and will definitely be going back.
