We have not stayed at a B&B for decades as we always stay at 5 star hotels. Afon Gwyn Country House looked so lovely from their website so we gave it a try. What a beautiful place! It's everything and more of what the website promises. Rana and Gareth were wonderful hosts and Rana's cooking was superb. Everything is designer here, even the crockery. Sleep quality is excellent because the rooms are well insulated. The attention to detail is very apparent everywhere. Our thanks go to Rana and Gareth for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: We were shown all the rooms and they are all excellent. It's impossible to be disappointed.

Stayed in the spacious Alice suite which was absolutely lovely. Some personal touches such as the hand made soap in the bathroom and a tray of tea and biscuits in arrival brought by the owner.
Carpets are cream throughout so he kindly requests that shoes to be removed which was not a problem. Slippers are given complimentary which we went to breakfast in. Breakfast requests are made the previous evening on a form by the front door.
Breakfast itself was perfect. Huge portions of the cooked breakfasts and lots of choice. Cereals, fruits, toasts- everything you could think of.
We stayed only for 1 night after walking up snowdon but would love to stay again when in the area.

Afon Gwyn Country House, is a must stay! My wife and I would not hesitate to book again and already intend to go back at some time in the future. Selfishly I would like to keep this lovely gem to myself but the hosts are such wonderful people that they are deserving of the praise lavished upon them. From the first moment to the last we were made to feel so much at home and absolutely nothing was too much trouble
Ideally situated on the outskirts of Betws Y Coed there is easy access to all corners of the incredible region of Snowdonia.
Wonderful room, slept soundly, and exquisite breakfasts served in immaculately decorated conservatory was a delightful start to the day.
Afon Gwyn Country House is a special place but made all the more special by the hosts Gareth and Rana.
Without hesitation recommended to all.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Robinson room, on ground floor with access to the garden at the rear, added to the...

We cannot recommend the Afon Gwyn Country House and its hosts enough. The house is set in beautiful surroundings; with extremely welcoming hosts for who nothing was too much trouble; the accommodation was to a;high standard of decor and cleanliness, with such attention to detail throughout. The quality of the breakfasts were outstanding. We hope to re-visit when next in North Wales and will definitely recommend it to all family and friends.

Room Tip: All rooms had aspects to be recommended, and all were to a very high standard.

My husband and I have just returned to Canada from Wales. One of the highlights of our trip was our 4 nights stay at Afon Gwyn Country House.Gareth and Rana are exceptional hosts, from the moment we arrived until we left made us so welcome. We stayed in the White room, witch was decorated in a perfect balance, the tray with delicious treats were a lovely touch as were the generous toiletries in the bathroom. breakfast in the sunny conservatory was the highlight of the day with fresh fruit, juice homemade yogurt, full English. We would highly recommend this B&B to all our friends, and hopefully we we return in the not too distance future.

We stayed in this lovely country house last week. It was an amazing experience. We were greeted by Gareth, who offered to help with our bags, and then showed us around everywhere.
Our choice was the Robinson room. It is on the ground floor with access to the small garden. Gareth brought us a tray of tea, which we had out there.
The whole place was spotless, with coordinating furnishings and a lovely modern bathroom with lots of toiletries. The king sized bed was super comfortable, with lots of pillows. There was everything available, including plenty of tea/coffee etc., bottle opener, wine glasses, books and television. (Wifi available in the comfortable lounge)
Breakfast was in the conservatory, superbly cooked by Rana.
We hope to return again. The great hospitality shown by Gareth and Rana made it very special.

This was our second visit to Afon Gwyn (mid May), first time being 3 years ago. Rana and Gareth were welcoming and friendly hosts and we felt well looked after.
We stayed in the Alice Suite (the Sorrell Suite previously). Both lovely, clean, spacious rooms.
Gareth went the extra mile and arranged with the local restaurant reservations for our evening meal. This being one of the many courtesies shown by the hosts. Excellent choice/variety of breakfasts offered.
We hope to visit again, sometime in the near future.
Linda and Grahame Wilson, Wakefield

Room Tip: If you like a spacious room, opt for the Alice Suite or the Sorrell Suite.
