“Quality B & B in Betws y Coed”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

A very enthisiastic welcome from our host, Petra, who then proved to be most helpful throughout our short stay; nothing was too much for her. The bedroom, Room 1, was very well equipped, clean, tidy, spacious and what you would expect from 4 star accommodation. Breakfasts were typical B&B fare (continental style, fruits, yoghurts, juice, tea/coffee and/or cooked breakfasts) but these were comprised of fresh and where possible local produce. Excellent.

The one thing that slightly, and only slightly, detracts from this and most of the other B&B's and hotels in Betws y Coed is the main road through the town passes directly outside the house and you may be woken up by passing traffic; but "hey" we had our windows wide open during the recent hot spell and getting up early meant we had more time to spend in this beautiful and interesting area situated in the heart of North Wales. Castles, gardens, attractions and outdoor activities abound, you will be spoilt for choice!

Enjoy the opportunities this part of Wales presents to you no matter what the weather and remember there may be other accommodation that is as good as Mount Garmon but trust me there will be none better!

Your positive impression starts before you arrive with the friendly and helpful information sent by Petra when you book. It continues throughout your stay. The welcome is warm, the rooms are comfortable and the food is good. A very relaxing and enjoyable time.

We stayed 5 nights with some American Friends. We chose Mount Garmon because Petra, the owner had such good reviews and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were warmly welcomed with a cream tea. Petra was very friendly and helpful and she could not do enough to make our stay memorable, including making recommendations for some excellent restaurants! Her cooked breakfasts were irresistible. The bedrooms were very clean, comfortable and well equipped, with many little extras such as chocolates by the bed, bottled water and more tea and coffee supplies than we have seen in 4* hotels. Our American friends were also very impressed with this guest house and say they will not forget Petra. Petra clearly likes people and it shows. We certainly hope to visit Mount Garmon again.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms1 & 2 on the first floor which were roomy and comfortable, but all rooms we sa...

Like the previous reviews, I agree wholeheartedly how great this B&B is. It began even before we reached Wales! Petra emailed us to arrange to meet us at the train station, booked dinner arrangements at recommended restaurants and made sure everything was set in place before we arrive. We were greeted personally by her punctually at the train station, and was given a quick tour of the village of Betws-y-coed.
We were pleasantly surprised that Petra noted that we were newly-weds and a nice card and a box of chocolates greeted us in our room. Petra's personally cooked breakfasts are immaculate and a perfect start to the day.
Betws-y-coed is the ideal location to explore Snowdonia, a self-sufficient town within easy reach to main attraction sites. We managed to accomplish quite a bit within our short 2-days stay thanks to the location of the B&B and of course, Petra's wealth of valuable information that she provided us with.

From the moment we arrived at Mount Garmon View Guesthouse, it was obvious we were in the company of a first class innkeeper. Lively and warm, our host, Petra, was a breath of fresh air compared to the typical innkeeper who often appears to just be "going through the motions". Her home is impeccable, the beds, comfy and in possession of softest bedding, real pillows, not foam logs, and even a wash cloth(flannel) and complimentary bottle of water. Her hand cooked breakfast is a foodie's delight, and a high quality one at that. My smoked salmon and perfectly scrambled egg breakfast, following a bowl of the freshest, sweetest melon, was off the charts! Beautifully situated in the lively town of Betws-y-Coed, within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants, guests are destined to feel they've stepped into an earlier time, when details like the ones Petra sees to, could be counted on.
If quality is your thing, and interesting destinations like this one on your list, Mount Garmon View Guesthouse will not disappoint!

Room Tip: Our double with a side view was quiet and comfortable, at the top of the house, and had a great show...

Despite being a regular user of tripadvisor this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. This is because of the outstanding service that Petra has provided for us over many years, most recently last weekend. She maintains an undiminished energy and passion for the highest standards of cleanliness and the breakfast is first-class. The guesthouse is based centrally in the village with an excellent and friendly pub only a few doors away.

A premium B&B experience! Immaculate characterful home in lovely setting with every attention to making your stay enjoyable. Breakfasts are first class with lots of traditional foods and plenty of fresh fruit. Knowledgable advice on local hill walks and other attractions, and facilities in the village.

Room Tip: Although on the main street there is little night-time traffic, so go for a room at the front and yo...
