We spent a long weekend here, I booked Glyn Peris after reading the many fabulous reviews. Now whilst this was a lovely B&B and Ceris was very welcoming and helpful, never have I stayed anywhere with so many rules. It truly felt like being back at school. We arrived on a Saturday after first of all going to the Zip Wire Experience. We were greeted by Ceris, filled in forms for all three of us & also a breakfast card (breakfast is served between 0800 - 0900. (Breakfast was well cooked but not quality food).
We settled in and as we had not eaten since 1100 am that morning we headed down to PIzza & Pint on the recommendation of Ceris. After eating we walked in to Llanberis for a drink. Whilst at the pub we realised that the World Cup was showing and settled down to watch it. Unfortunately the game went to penalties and one of the rules of the house is you must be back by midnight (unless by prior arrangement) or the door is locked! So we headed off on a forced march to ensure we were back in time.
Other rules (all written and stuck around the B&B) or written in the welcome pack include not to place hot mugs on tables and to use the slate coasters, to be careful when opening and closing the shower door, not to bother booking if you are going to arrive later than 2130hrs, to name but three.
I've stopped in many places and never have I seen so many instructions, I can only presume it is due to Ceris' partners background in the military.
It really is a shame as it felt like being treated like a child (the three of us are to say the least of a mature age).
The B&B itself cannot be faulted for cleanliness, our room (no 7) was a decent size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were nice. Our companion had a single room and this was quite small, although again very clean.
All in all I can appreciate why people rate Glyn Peris and I suspect the majority of guests are on a walking holiday or short break so will be going to bed early and rising early to get on the hills. However for those of you who may be like a little bit more freedom and not to be restricted I would not recommend staying here.
For anyone else then pay Glyn Peris a visit and enjoy.
