We visited here at the beginning of August.

The staff that run the railway are all so friendly and happy.

The scenery from the steam train is spectacular and the children loved getting off of the train at the picnic area and the National Slate Museum.

Superb morning. We all left the train smiling.

We arrived at the railway to read the sign which said an hour lake train trip. We started the journey by going backwards towards Llanberis Station " What's the point" we then made our way around the lake going back past where we had started!!! I do feel a running commentary pointing out the Points of Interest would have been very beneficial. Commercially I also feel that with the stunning views that the lake have to offer that when the train stops for a break that a viewing point would make you a lot of money.
The trip lasted (including the stops)45 minutes approx'.

We planned to visit Electric Mountain up the road and thought we would combine it with a trip around Padarn Lake on the little steam train. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, you have the option of getting off at the Slate Museum but the stop wasn't long enough to have a proper look & get back on the same train & as we had tickets to Electric Mountain some of our party opted to visit the cafe instead. The 30 minute stop was plenty of time for tea & cake though whilst the younger members did manage a whistle stop tour of the Slate Museum (free). The train also has a 5 minute stop further along the lake and there are wonderful views of Snowdonia so take your camera!

We enjoyed the trip itself as the staff at the station and on the train are so helpful and polite but the journey is a lot shorter than we thought it would be because the 60 minutes quoted includes a 15 and 5 minute stop at 2 stations. We weren't sure it that was long enough to see the slate museum so we stayed on the train. The views of the lake are amazing and you can take some lovely views of Snowdon but for us the journey time was disappointingly short.
Also make sure you have pound coins for the car parking because the machine does not take £5 notes and no one you ask has any change!
