I do understand why people might find Martin rude. But you know what? Lighten up. He's just a bit brisk and has a somewhat eclectic sense of humor. The only people I saw him be abrupt to while we were there, frankly deserved it for being daft (complaining about the cold after leaving their windows open all day). Also, far from trying to overcharge, he knocked money off for the most minor of inconveniences to us, without asking (from a very reasonable rate too if you ask me). The free wifi was a nice unadvertised surprise and the breakfast was terrific. The entire place is spotless as far as I could see, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to a good B&B in a beautiful part of the world.

- sticky room underneath the roof with no space
- shared bathroom
- Martin - the boss- very unfriendly especially if you intend on promised internet acess
- broken furniture, e.g. the wardrobe

For a young couple looking to hike Snowdon and explore the outdoors, Erw Fair was a great B&B for us. Martin and Sally were gracious but not overbearing hosts; Martin was brief in showing us to our room and didn't hover. I believe some people have misinterpreted him in the past, because both he and Sally introduced us to their 2 persian cats and were able to recommend excellent places within a short walking distance from the B&B for dinner both nights we stayed - far from rude!!!

They have an entire room with trail maps and hiking information for Snowdon, and Martin was able to advise us on how to take the Sherpa bus from across the street to Pen y Pass to start our hike and then pointed out that the Llanberis trail comes straight back into the town center. So rather than paying 10 quid to park at Pen y Pass, we paid 2 to ride the bus, hiked the mountain, and then hiked back down right to the B&B, and got view of both sides of the mountain.

Sally's full English breakfast was cooked to order and excellent! We also ordered packed lunches for our hike, and they were a steal! Our ensuite room was small but clean and comfortable. I would definitely return to stay at Erw Fair and recommend it to others looking for simple accommodations, a great location, and great breakfast!

Room Tip: They book up fast, so call in advance!

Me and my husband decided to escape for the night away from the kids etc, so we randomly chose this place, to stay, I did look on trip advisor for comments, and was surprised with all the positive comments about the place, well, maybe the chap who owns it was having a off day, but the welcome we received was not what we were expecting, basic information, herded to our room, he put the tele on for us, turned the shower on by the wall, and that was it, i thought a bit of conversation would of been appropriate, but it was like we were intruding on his space, the room we had was overlooking a lean to roof, and a small garden. The lady who owns the place was very nice to us in the morning, and the breakfast was good too. The young lady who served breakfast was very friendly. We will be choosing somewhere else next time, I am a receptionist in a hotel, so i know whether you want to be friendly or not, with the job you have, you have to be.

We stayed here before going up the PYG trail. This B&B couldn't really be better located for a short break in this area. A choice of several bars and dining facilities within five minutes walk, car parking, walk to the mountain railway terminal, just ten minutes drive to Pen y Pass car park for Snowdon via the PYG or Miners' trails.

Not only was this a good location for a B&B, the owners were really helpful too: we planned to leave by 7:30 but breakfast isn't served 'til 8:00. No problem, we were shown where we could make tea or coffee, do some toast, choose cereals. Fresh milk and orange juice were left in a chiller box for us too. In fact the owners were up just after us and offered bacon sandwiches. Great service.

Worth mentioning good quality bed linen and towels, always a treat away from home. Overall hard to fault and excellent value.

We had pre-booked - which was just as well as the sign said No Vacancies.
We arrived early on a Saturday evening and were welcomed in and shown our room without cefremon but quite courteously.
The bed was very comfortable enabled us to sleep soundly every night for a week.
Breakfast was amazing. Cereals and dried and fresh fruit were all available as was a bowl of Yoghurt. The bacon was delicious, everything was perfectly cooked and non greasy.
The area is breathtakingly beautiful, and we had a wonderful week touring around and riding on several steam trains - including the totally unique Snowdon Mountain Railway.
Throughout our stay we were made very welcome by Martin and Sally. They made us feel like valued friends, and we feel likewise about them. We will certainly go to Erw Fair again if and when we come back to Snowdonia. We can thoroughly recommend their hospitality.

I stayed at Erw Fair for two nights in September and I could not have had a more pleasant stay. Martin and Sally were most welcoming. The room I stayed in had extremely comfortable bed and a brilliant shower. I especially enjoyed the full breakfast, served on a hot plate. I recommed Erw Fair guesthouse whole heartedly.
