My wife & I have used this pub occasionally for 26 Years. We live about 15 miles away otherwise we would use it as our local.
Today was our 25th wedding anniversary, and both fancied having lunch here. Had a three course meal and each course was absolutely brilliant. Having read some of the negative reports on Trip Adviser, I wonder what some people expect. If you moan about high prices, you should go out of season, when you will possibly be the only customers. Despite this the pub is open all day every day and serving food. The remote location and short tourist, season mean the prices charged are necessary to stay in business. I remember one trip back from Cardiff, about 130 miles, where we were turned down for lunch by four pubs en-route because "It is after 2PM".
We eventually turned up at the Cwellyn to find the pub open and a full menu available - fantastic.
Today's three course meal for two including excellent beer and coffee was £68 nobody could possibly say that was not great value especially considering the fantastic quality.
As for people moaning about mozzies & no phone signal - the mind boggles. ITS THE COUNTRY.More
