“A fabulous find”

We stayed in late October and although the Welsh air was brisk the same cannot be said for the hospitality.

We stayed in the bunk house for 8, the accommodation was as stated and for the money we found it brilliant.

The pub grub was lovely and I would recommend to all!

A slightly belated review to say a massive THANK YOU to the owners and staff.
I was part of a small party completing the 3 Peaks Challenge in support of the charity Above & Beyond, at the end of August, and we were due to stay in the Lofthouse that night.
After a bit of drama during our descent from Snowdon, we arrived much later than expected.
The owners very kindly kept the kitchen open for us, and couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. And to top it all off, the food was fantastic. Huge thanks to the chef for staying late. Their flexibility really did save the day. The Lofthouse was clean and warm, and we had a great nights sleep (although after the day we'd had in the mountains, we'd probably have slept well anywhere!)

Breakfast the following morning was excellent, and rounded off a great weekend for us.

Once again, huge thanks to everyone at the Cwellyn Arms. The negative reviews on here are a total mystery to me. I've recommended lots of people to stay here, and look forward to returning myself as soon as possible.

Booked the lofthouse at short notice for the night, was comfortable, roomy enough for the three of us, and in a nice location. Went to the pub for tea, the food was very good and had a good selection of ales.

This is the second and will certainly not be the last time my wife and I have stayed at the small bunkhouse, yet again its facilities, while ok basic but always clean and tidy, did not let us down....hot shower, clean comfy bed, central heating and a log burner along with an oven for your ruby and a fridge for your real ales...What more can a person ask for after a yomp up Snowdon!!!!!
Please ignore any horrible reviews for this unique abode, yes you get what you pay for and this is well worth every penny....it paid for itself when I opened the door this morning and was greeted with the view!
Also nothing was to much trouble for the boss and staff of the Cwellyn Arms and will definitely have the cooked breakfast delivered next time we stay. Thanks again, Peter and Sharon Woodfin

Have been camping here before and returned the end of August. Absolutely amazing weather for an area not known for its tropical climate, with exceptional scenery.
Campsite - Can't see why people complain about this. Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly with no extra charges for the showers. When our group arrived with two large tents, the owner took the time to accompany us to the site to help us it site our tents in the best locations. He could have not have been more helpful. Yes, it has no electric hook ups, clubhouse, games room etc., but for the price it's excellent VFM with a view that can't be beaten.
The Pub - excellent range of beers that are kept in pristine condition with food that is of top quality. Agreed it's not the cheapest, but a) you'll pay these sort of prices and more in most pubs in London and most large cities, and b) how much trade do you think it gets in the winter?
There are cheaper places around, but you'll have to drive and in my opinion, without the atmosphere and quality of the Cwellyn Arms.

My wife & I have used this pub occasionally for 26 Years. We live about 15 miles away otherwise we would use it as our local.
Today was our 25th wedding anniversary, and both fancied having lunch here. Had a three course meal and each course was absolutely brilliant. Having read some of the negative reports on Trip Adviser, I wonder what some people expect. If you moan about high prices, you should go out of season, when you will possibly be the only customers. Despite this the pub is open all day every day and serving food. The remote location and short tourist, season mean the prices charged are necessary to stay in business. I remember one trip back from Cardiff, about 130 miles, where we were turned down for lunch by four pubs en-route because "It is after 2PM".
We eventually turned up at the Cwellyn to find the pub open and a full menu available - fantastic.
Today's three course meal for two including excellent beer and coffee was £68 nobody could possibly say that was not great value especially considering the fantastic quality.
As for people moaning about mozzies & no phone signal - the mind boggles. ITS THE COUNTRY.

Booked the bunkhouse for two nights, dark and dirty! Dirty showers, dirty beds, dirty dishes, dirty hob. We stayed one night, climbed Snowdon the next day, before we went home the same day I told them at the pub it was dirty and a mess and they just shrugged their shoulders. We then drove home after a six hour walk, it was that bad! The Bunkhouse is that small, there is nowhere to sit, except on the homemade crooked bed. It says its a 3 bed bunkhouse, it may just pass for a 1 bedroom cave! The only mistake I made was not checking trip adviser first!!! The climb up Snowdon was amazing , never to be forgotten but this Bunkhouse will be ASAP. It's spoiling such as beautiful part of Wales.

Cwellyn A, General Manager at Cwellyn Arms, responded to this review, 19 October 2013
When you returned the keys for Bwythyn Bach on Saturday evening you advised ourselves that you were leaving early due to a telephone call and a problem with a family illness.
You did state that you had not enjoyed your stay and would not stay again. I did ask as to whether you had stayed in a Bunkhouse before and your reply was that you had not and it was not your cup of tea.
Your comments regarding cleanliness are insulting and unsubstantiated. Cleanliness is very important to us and all our properties are kept to a high standard of cleanliness. All mattresses and pillows in Bwythyn Bach have protectors and all guests are told to bring their own sleeping bag.
Bwythyn Bach is a popular small bunkhouse with many repeat bookings.
I repeat a previous review on tripadvisor. “This is a Bunkhouse and it does what it says on the tin. Cosy, warm and basic, no frills and a good option if the weather is poor.”
We do advise guests before booking that Bunkhouse accommodation is virtually a step up from camping.
Perhaps, in hindsight, you should have looked at booking Farm 1 suite accommodation with en suite double bedroom and whirlpool type bath and large lounge with T.V. at £75 per night rather than opting for a Bunkhouse as a cheaper alternative.
