“3 course Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Just would like to say that we went back to Bodridis Hall for the 2nd time for Sunday lunch today ...and it was probs the best Sunday dinner Ive had for a long time....we had a Groupon offer 3 courses for 2 for £19.00 and 6 of us went and we were not disappointed... the staff are friendly, the service was efficient and the food superb... and it was great value. The gardens are lovely and very well kept with a loverly lake at the front with peacocks, geese and ducks.
The outside of the building was amazing ...but the inside does look a bit tired...but dont let this put you off...the food is superb and very good value for money, well done all we will be back..very highly recommended!

spent 2 nights on the amazon offer at Bodridis Hall. had a great couple of days. the hotel is very different! if you keep an open mind and your priority is character and individuality then you will enjoy it. the food was second to none - excellent food and fantastic presentation. loved the ambience of the hall and its grounds. thanks to ~Gary and his team. look forward to returning to see how the owners and Gary develop the place over the next year or so.

So difficult to sum up this hotel in a dream setting. We were in Elizabeth suite with enormous window overlooking the lake, enjoyed from the window seat. Sadly there was a vase of dead flowers in the fireplace and the windows needed flies and cobwebs sweeping away! Breakfast was average, cereals could be better presented in large bowls rather than plastic containers but evening meals were very good, obviously the work of a professional. The new owner has plans to improve many areas and we wish her luck with that and hope to go back and see for ourselves next year. The staff work hard and are all very pleasant and it is a lovely area with lots to do and see, we wish Bodridis Hall a happy future.

Room Tip: Elizabeth suite has wonderful views of lake and surrounding countryside but due to its position all...

This is a lovely old house, set in wonderful scenery. The staff were very nice but untrained. They tried their best. The food was good. The inside of the house was worn, more than just the Ancient wear in a 16th century house. The carpets were old, the furniture missed matched and ill considered. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a disaster, the toilet took hours to refill, the sink water bubbled up into the bathtub, which was wobbly. The hotel was difficult to find and down a long, perhaps, 1/2 drive with pot holes and cows. The gardens were lovely peppered with bunny rabbits and pheasants and a peacock. There were five channels on the TV but only two programs between the five channels. It could be a great place. The cows who lined the driveway were stubborn, difficult to move and we enjoyed an hilarious time trying to get down the driveway one night. We laughed so much it was worth the rest of the awful accomodations.

Room Tip: Go for the room where Queen Elizabeth slept!

Lovely hotel, with alot of old world charm and atmosphere, Queen Elizabeth 1 slept there!

The grounds are big with a huge lake. Lots of grouse, partridges, pheasants, ducks, geese, cows, and wid life. Owls hooting in the evening.

The staff were brilliant and food lovely and imaginative, presented as if a first class top London hotel but with bigger portions. Breakfast cooked to order.

We were at the top of the hotel so a few stairs, my husband has a heart problem so in future we would request a lower room, although the size of our room was very large with large bathroom and great view.

Our room was very clean, The windows are very old giving it the charm and fitting in with the character of the hotel and did not cause an issue to us.

Bearing in mind this has only recently been bought by the current owners from administration they have done well and the staff were brilliant in all aspects. Even the chef came out to help my husband with his car alarm as he had the same model.

Only down side and one that I am sure in time they will address is the private road to the hotel. It does have some large potholes and as it is one track we had to reverse to let a delivery van pass, went down one and caused damage to our low slung car. This was a shame as the weekend up to then had been lovely.

It is a great location near the steam trains and Horseshoe Pass, with fantastic views. If you are interested in clay pigeon shooting it is also just two minutes from Faux Degla Shooting Ground, we were there for the British Open.

We stayed at Bodridis Hall on a special break" romantic weekend". The Hotel itself is splendid, yes parts are a bit scruffy but its over 400 years old - allowed a bit of wear and tear.
We had one of the "suites"- Denbighshire- Lovely although handles inside the bathroom door would help!!. Wonderful views and plenty of space. Only 3 channels on the TV though- but then it is the honeymoon suite.
Best of all is the food, excellently served and very imaginative variations on good Welsh meat and fish.Breakfasts very good( cooked) and just cereal and toast if you don't want something cooked - no "continental" fare here.
If you want great food, at reasonable prices and a slightly quirky room in a really beautiful setting as far from the rat -race as its possible to be and yet be less than an hour from Manchester then this is the place for you- Very pleasant & helpful staff just add to the ambience

Room Tip: Queen Bess and Denbighshire are the best - Leicester looked very nice too

We stayed here for 2 nights, the staff were incredibly friendly and although we did not plan to eat in the hotel restaurant we were very tempted by the menu and we were not disappointed at all. The chef catered for our quite specific needs and we ate some very tasty and beautifully presented food.

Our room did need a little updated but the bed was very comfortable and the room quiet.

The gardens are very pretty and we saw lots of rabbits, pheasants and were entertained by the peacock.

We would recommend this hotel
