“New, Clean & Friendly Staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

Stayed here for three days. Hotel is very new and have to say the staff were very helpful and friendly. Ate in their compact restaurant on one night. Typical fast/ ready food but as tasty as could be expected. Breakfast was cooked to order. Do not normally have breakfast in Premier Inns, as neither of us are big eaters, the cost of nearly a tenner each just pays for the woman on the next table with two overweight teenagers getting three helpings of everything all for free. I do prefer Holiday Inn Express as you get the breakfast and full internet free, the 'free' half an hour that Premier offer is a bit of an insult nowadays. But if you cannot get HIExpress, this is a good subsitute.

Another superb Premier Inn, which opened in November 2013. Since visiting this hotel, I returned for another visit only a couple of weeks later.

Check-in is very simple. You type your surname on a touch screen, and the room keys are dispensed from the unit along with print outs of the room number and breakfast times.

The hotel is laid out with rooms on three floors with 2 lifts available if required. The two rooms I have stayed in (so far) have the usual Premier Inn layout, but as this is a new hotel, they are more spacious than the standard rooms in both length and width, and have a slightly different colour décor. There are also some nice extra touches such as the 40” TV which is mounted on the wall directly over the bed. There are also additional connection ports provided which I haven’t seen in any hotel so far. These allow connections for camcorders (red, white & yellow connectors), a USB connection, and also connections for computers and laptops. There may also have been a connection for an HDMI cable. I tried connecting my camcorder and the TV automatically changed to the correct channel which was a bonus.

As usual, the room was immaculate; very clean and tidy, with tea and coffee making facilities that were replenished the following day.

Breakfast was taken at the Thyme restaurant which leads directly off the small reception area. Although the restaurant was fairly small, the breakfasts were of good quality, with all food, including the cooked breakfast, being of self service, so you could have as much or as little as you wanted.

Although I didn’t walk into Wrexham town centre from the hotel, it only seems to be a short 10-15 minute walk along one road, which takes you towards the shops. The hotel is located right across the road to the Wrexham General railway station. Although the rooms at the back of the hotel face out onto the railway line with a view of the platform, noise from the trains didn’t seem to be a problem. The hotel is ideally placed to catch a train, and is only a short 5 minute walk (if that) to get to the station. I did this on my second visit and caught a train easily to Liverpool.

The stand out feature though of visiting this hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Whether they are working on reception or in the Thyme restaurant, they all appeared to be enjoying their jobs and made my stay even more enjoyable. I can’t think of any other hotel that I have stayed at where the staff have been so welcoming and friendly.

Typing this review and thinking over my previous two stays, I don’t think it will be too long before I am booking another weekend stay here. That on it’s own goes to show how much I enjoyed my stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the front of the hotel (facing the car park) seem to be quieter than the rooms at the...

Fantastic beds, 5 min walk into town, simple but stylish, only problem was the windows do not open due to the railway lines next to the hotel. However, no noise could be heard in the room, easy to park

Great place to stop over to break up a trip. Big family rooms / comfy beds / friendly staff and great breakfast.

Quite a new hotel / very clean and comfortable / easy(ish) to find.

Only issue - Sign at the main road could do with being more prominent, easy to drive past ....

Apart from that, great stopover

I spent a week at the Premier Inn. It's a good basic hotel with friendly staff.

Pros: nice, large rooms. Clean, big bathrooms. Comfortable beds and very quiet hotel. Nice location, across the street from the train station, walking distance from the town centre. The breakfast is OK, bacon and eggs cost extra.

Cons: terrible wifi that you have to pay for after 30 free minutes, staff were friendly but rather inflexible. The vending machine in the lobby wasn't refilled often, so it was empty a lot of the time. The comforters are very cheap and terrible. Which is weird since the beds and pillows were nice. The window doesn't open so you have to use the AC at night, which isn't preferable.

All in all, a fine hotel, but could be a great one with a few small changes.
