“I'll be back!”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

I often look at trip Advisor before booking accommodation but have never taken the time to write a review, I've had such a lovely weekend with my friend that I wanted to make the effort. We had rooms 2 and 3 and shared the bathroom, it worked so well and we didn’t feel uncomfortable or unwelcome as single guests, which is often the case. We were made to feel at home straight away and after some long walks getting back to the log burner was a real delight. Jon and Carole are excellent hosts. We will definitely be back.

We could not have been made more welcome than Jon and Carole made us feel over the 5 nights and 6 days we spent there. On the first evening we had a meal in the Bridge Cafe, it was home cooked, locally sourced, organic and much of it self grown. The atmosphere was terrific, not too many people and all were very friendly. Breakfasts were relaxed, great food and conversation with Jon & Carole who supplied us with all the information we needed to help plan our day and evening activities.

We were with our friends for the first 2 nights (see Julia A comments below) walking in the Brecons and Black Mountains, went on waterfall walks & photo shoots (scenery), went to Penderin Whisky distillery and had a thoroughly good break from work and our generally hectic schedule.

Our gear got soaked whilst walking and Jon and Carole who walk and cycle themselves, cater for this by providing an area to dry your gear if needed. Unfortunately my wife left her boots behind, Jon wrote to us and offered to post them on but we have asked him to keep them there for us - we want to go back for more!

We went Hiking in Brecon at the weekend with friends. Our friends stayed in the Bridge Cafe the night before and booked us a meal there in the evening.

It was a really friendly local place, with great home cooked food, local beers and ciders and even Brecon Gin! They catered for my friend's special dietry requirements and didn't laugh at us when we had second dessert......

I didn't stay here so can't comment on the B&B aspect, but I believe our friends loved it!

We've just come back from a weekend walking in the Brecon Beacons with our friends. They had booked the B&B suggesting that it sounded ideal for us all and it really was! Jon & Carole have provided everything you could need & are geared up for dealing with wet & dirty gear. We would so recommend it, it has a lovely relaxed feel about the place - very easy going. Our friends were staying 5 nights, us only 2 - but we're as jealous as hell!

My wife booked this for myself and my son whilst we were on a cycle tour in South Wales. She booked it and got email confirmation that were booked in. Upon arrival (somewhat tired) we were told that we had not booked and must be mistaken. We were not written in the "booking Bible" therefore must have been given incorrect information by my wife.
They were polite and did suggest places that we could try - But never suggested that they may have made a mistake.
In fairness we did get a very apologetic email shortly after admitting it was completely their mistake. But my wife had spent some time researching places in Brecon and was pleased that she had found us somewhere that looked good (though I never got the chance to confirm this).
In summary - I wouldn't rely on a booking here - especially during peak times when you may not find somewhere else if you have to. Though happily we did on this occasion.

Perfect! Lovely rooms, linen, facilities, products, you couldn't ask for more. Great hosts, lovely food and lots of little extra touches. Rare to find such a genuine place and at very reasonable prices. We were so happy we wanted to stay on for an unplanned third night, sadly but hardly surprising they were fully booked. Highly recommend.

We stopped here by chance, looking for a coffee before attempting a walk in the Beacons. Warm, comfortable and obviously popular with the locals who addressed the owner by name. Needless to say, the lattes were top drawer and we began to wish we could have stayed here for the night and sample their home cooked breakfast which everyone else in the place were tucking into with gusto!
