Beautiful farmhouse with all the facilities you could need. Excellent location for hill walking. Stunning views all around. Lots of valleys to explore with rivers and waterfalls. Dan yr Ogof caves just down the road.
We stayed at Rachel's farmhouse over the bank holiday weekend in April/May. There were 14 adults and 1 baby.
The first thing you notice is how spacious the property is on the inside.
The kitchen easily handled all of us and we ate all our meals there (despite there being a separate large dining room).
In the evenings we were all able to sit in the large lounge with a fire for effect (the farmhouse has an aga oven which keeps the house toasty).
There was a small TV lounge just off of the kitchen where 10 of us watched Mrs. Doubtfire and another lounge where some of us played on the provided Nintendo (perfect for keeping both young children and nostalgic adults entertained!).
The bedrooms are all upstairs and noise barely travels through the thick insulated walls! They are wonderfully furnished and all have windows out to the landscape or farm yard. I had a view of the cows on the hill to wake up to!
We had a baby with us and so isolated ourselves to one of the bedrooms furthest away from the others and this worked out perfectly!
All in all this property is perfectly placed to handle a large group or family who wish to enjoy walks in the fresh fields of Wales while having a warm and accommodating base to come back to every day!
We needed a place to gather our large family to celebrate a very special birthday and Cnewr farmhouse did the job superbly. We first went there almost ten years ago and loved it but now, newly and, to my eye, brilliantly refurbished, it's even better. I can't imagine anywhere else that would accommodate so many people from 9 months old to 73 so comfortably. We all slept like logs and with so many bathrooms and loos, several lounges, a massive dining room and games room, we were able to have plenty of space when you needed a bit of peace and quiet. Naturally, much of the action went on in the huge, well equipped kitchen where, at one point, two legs of lamb were roasted simultaneously to feed twelve of us.
We were extremely lucky with the weather so spent a lot of time walking and fishing. It's a beautiful spot to explore and the activities in the adjacent farm buildings were of great interest too.. Wales can often be wet so it's good that the games room is highly equipped. We managed to make a decent pool player out of our 12 year old, while he coached his great uncle to drive a Super Mario Kart with increasing skill. There was enough privacy for our bass viol player to practice and an impromptu trio was created with a pair of recorder players, all without waking the baby. It is a vast place but well enough heated to be cosy.
I liked the way the bedrooms and bathrooms had been uprated without spoiling the character of the building. I liked the amount of clothes storage we had, the plentiful hot water and the top quality towels and bed linen.
We all enjoyed our stay so much, we've already booked it for the same time next year.
We stayed at Cnewr Estate for a weekend for my husband's 30th birthday with 10 friends. It was a perfect setting- amazing location for walking and mountain biking. The house was spotlessly clean and felt more like a boutique hotel than a self catering house. The kitchen was well equipped and was very useful to have an electric oven and hob in addition to the electric aga. The whole house is beautifully renovated and felt very cosy. Even with 10 adults, 1 child and 2 babies the house felt spacious with plenty of bathrooms etc so we were not all on top of each other.
We were able to get a big Tesco delivery the day we arrived and there was plenty of room to store the food in the big fridge and cellar room next to the kitchen.
I can't recommend this enough for a group stay and hope we can return again soon.
We recently returned to this farmhouse for what has become an annual event and have to say, that the refurbished house was absolutely fantastic.
The refurb has been done to the highest standard, with beautifully refurbed bathrooms and additional showers, upgraded beds and bedding, definitely luxury hotel standard and a lovely comfortable sitting area, which has been opened up in part of the house that we did not have access to in previous years
Would definitely recommend this property for any large gathering
A stunning location to stay in especially if you like the outdoors. The house is beautifully furnished and ideal for big groups of people, children and dogs. Clean and fresh with fantastic bathrooms and comfy beds. The children loved the games room and the snug and sitting room where great places to switch off with a book or paper in front of a fire. Wonderfully warm. I would thoroughly recommend.
Beautifully refurbished and furnished to a very high standard, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms, but still felt welcoming. Also really well equipped for large groups - plenty of crockery/cutlery/glasses - and with an electric cooker and hob as well as the Aga. Comfy beds and good quality bed linen. Pool table and TV in the games room were a big hit with the young, and the wood burners in the main sitting room and the snug made the house feel very cozy. Surrounding countryside was beautiful too. We'll definitely be coming back!
