“Chill out weekend”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

Booked through Laterooms and on arrival were told that they didn't have reservation for us. On checking it appears they had us booked in 3 days later. Luckily we'd taken our confirmation from Laterooms. Our room was ready in 5 - 10mins, and was very clean, tidy and well decorated - and warm !! Hotel was quiet, think there was only one other couple staying on our first night. Didn't use the pool/spa, but it looked impressive in it's own building 100m or so down the drive of the hotel. Breakfast was at 8-9 only. Slept in first morning so missed it ! Made it to breakfast the second morning and there were 5 couples staying, but what seemed odd is that only 2 tables were laid up, and you had to share whether you wanted to or not. This was on Valentine's weekend. Breakfast was some cereal and fruit, yogurt and a cooked breakfast with toast. Cooked OK, but not big. Wife finished hers off with cereal and she never manages that ! If you were out for a day's walking it wouldn't set you up. Peaceful surroundings, nice grounds, clean and tidy.

Just spent two nights at this fantstic hotel. Our room was large with lovely views of the garden and mountains in the background.Spotlessly clean, comfy beds with plenty of pillows. The breakfast was superb and so much of it,set us up for the day and Richard (the owner) gave me bread to feed the ducks on the canal, he's so friendly and helpful as are all of the staff. We had a wonderful stress free weekend and will definelty be returning.

Just been to Nythfa House Hotel for High Tea. Sat in the conservatory and though it was a wet cold day outside it felt cosy inside. The food was fantastic, and much more than I expected with a varitey of delicate sandwiches, cakes, tarts and pastry. Chris the chef ... best beef sandwiches I have tasted in a long time, there was just about a domestic over who was to get the last one! Best of luck and hope that it will be offered throughout the year.
Cant wait to have High Tea in the Summer months when the huge grape vine inside the conservatory is in fruit sitting looking out to view the lovely gardens. Such a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Me and my husband stayed for one night in November 2011. Very clean and spacious room with fantastic view. The pool is clean and quite . We didn't have time to use the spa but maybe next time.
Easy to check in and out and the breakfast was just perfect for us.

We stayed here for two nights. We were in a lovely, spacious beamed attic room. Didn't get chance to use the pool but it looked tempting.
Wide choice of breakfast foods, I didn't go go for the Welsh breakfast but my partner polished his off quickly.
Geared more towards groups of walkers but we didn't feel out of place. Large tables for about 8 which you shared at mealtimes. Didn't bother us but may not appeal to everyone.
Well stocked bar.
Free internet access computer in reception.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a walking break with HF Holidays on an all inclusive basis.
Was allocated what seemed like the highest single room in the house as it had a skylight. Room was quite spacious and clean but adjoining bathroom looked slightly old fashioned. This was confirmed when toilet failed to flush properly even after several tries and shower/bath water temperature ran extremely hot or cold.
Food was generally above average especially the delicious full Welsh breakfast, evening meals pretty decent too though not out of this world. Sadly sandwiches provided for picnic lunches were distinctly average - sliced bread with minimum fillings.
I tried the pool which is in a small building adjacent it was acceptable though strangely eerie when swimming there alone. The house was quite easy to discover - about 5 mins walk up from town centre up a narrow road though it is signposted. I must mention the waiting staff who although overworked were always cheerful, helpful and pleasant.
All in all an enjoyable stay and would stay there again if the bathroom was refurbished
as I like a good working bathroom.
