“Great value, I would stay here again”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

I enjoyed my overnight stay; easy to find, very friendly welcome, clean room, comfortable bed, good breakfast and great value for money. I am pleased that I took up the staff's recommendation for Roberto's excellent Italian restaurant.

We stayed here for one night whilst undertaking a charity event. We had a twin room facing into the courtyard. The room and en-suite shower room was clean and comfortable. Free wifi was an added bonus and they even had the wifi code on the inside of the door with usual information.

Hospitality tray was well presented.

The breakfast was of a good quality. Quirky little place, but very nice atmosphere. Owners are very helpful too.

The car park is through a narrow opening, but if you put in your wing mirrors and some one see you out you will be ok.

Thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Borderers.

Basic, but everything you need from a B&B. Comfy, warm, cosy and quiet. Bags of character, lovely staff and a full-english breakfast every morning. The entrance to the car park is very small and the car park is tiny (its the courtyard of a very old coaching inn), so not suitable for bigger people carrier/land rover type cars. The decor is kitsch, all the floors slant in different directions and the beams are low- this place has bags of character.

Lovely people genuinely helpful. Unusual collection of rooms but very convenient for town. Yes the breakfast was great and served with smile. Courtyard access is tight but manageable for my estate car, though go slow. Stayed for 2 days Classed as a guest house but gave you a feeling of independence with own door onto courtyard. Good atmosphere

Room Tip: Room 7 was comfortable with double bed but not big. Warm even in very cold weather and quiet.

We stayed here two nights while visiting for a family funeral, so not the best of situations. But that aside, we were very pleased with our stay at the Borderers, we asked for a king size, en-suite, and ours had two single beds together, which is ok with us, and it makes the bed seem huge. (there was less of a ridge in the middle than we have had in more expensive places) and it was very comfortable, so much that we didnt want to get out in the mornings, we were so cozy in it! Breakfast was very good, we are vegetarians and told Jan that when we booked so she was prepared for us and give us a good breakfast. some people have complained that it is old fashioned, but that seems to be the theme throughout, 'old cottage style' it was clean, cozy, friendy, good breakfast, good price, minutes from Brecon centre, with secure parking. What more can you ask for?
We will stay again when next visiting family overnight.

We pulled into the tight but secure car park quite late on a Friday night - armed with a bottle of wine and some nice Welsh cheeses. The owner showed us to our room, explaining that there's free on street parking across the road, should we not find a free space when returning. She also armed us with a knife, some plates, and glasses so that we could enjoy our bounty.

Our room was spacious and comfortable with a large ensuite bathroom and plush carpeting (in the bedroom not the bathroom). There is plenty of space for clothes and bags, and the bed is comfortable with freshly pressed sheets. Very nice!

There's also a new TV with a good selection of channels - and plenty of tea and coffee.

It's worth noting that we had one small problem which the owner dealt with immediately and professionally ... And gave us a bottle of wine as well. This was not necessary but certainly another sign of her professionalism and helpfulness.

Breakfasts were also very good. The usual full English for me and really well done scrambled eggs for my wife with plenty of coffee and OJ.

The owner reviewed our plans for the day and gave us helpful tips.

We'll be back and recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: Ask for room 4 if you want a double bed and large ensuite bathroom.

A 17th century coaching Inn - 1645, to be precise, along with all the old bits still intact. We are constantly striving to keep everything up to date, with the addition of WiFi etc. The floors still creak, and we get reported sightings of ghosts.(We have never had such an experience in our 15 years here! Dare we suggest that it may just be the proximity of too many pubs?)Enjoy! ... more   less
