its to easy to rate reviews against a 5 star hotel & slag places off. However if u look at the Tair Bull for what it is - a country pub / B&B for me and my party for a one night stop it was indeed as 5 star as we needed. We were running late but still had a table for four reserved,. We had a first class home cooked meal and plenty of it washed down with Welsh Cider! The rooms were very clean & tidy the toilets & showers were fine & the bed comfy. We paid up the night before to aid our speedy exit (we were going up the mountains) and left after a serious full English breakfast with as much tea coffee cereals & fruit as you wanted.
For an overnight watering hole I cant see it being any better.
Excellent food helpful & friendly staff and very good value for money. The Courtesy WiFi was a bonus.
For anyone wanting a good nights rest before Tabbing up the hills I would recommend this Inn.

This is a lovely traditional pub with good beer and good food, and the room was clean and comfortable. The owners and the locals were very friendly and I had a lovely evening with a nice meal. It's also a great location with beautiful views of Pen y Fan. Highly recommended!

We have called in when passing,a couple of times for food, which I said "the best in Wales" & I should no, we are from Builth Wells & eat out a lot in the area, there was a lovely welcome from Helen when we walked in, although there was only us in at the start, there was a good feel to the place, lovely bar / seating area with a log fire, we were asked if we wanted to eat in the dinning area, which is laid out lovely, but chose the bar as we were chatting to Helen, who is very friendly!!!! hoping to have an overnight stay with friends in the future. As for Jenks_s review maybe it was his own attitude, just look at all the other reviews 5 out of 5

My wife and myself stayed at the Tai'r Bull over the weekend with friends and found the whole experience to be superb. The room was nice clean and comfortable the food home cooked and nice with a very good selection. The thing however that set the place apart was the staff and the owner who were simply excellent, friendly, funny and made us feel very welcome. Well done Helen great place.

My partner and I stayed here at the end of July following a recommendation to stay here by family who had previously stayed on more than one occasion.
The staff member who was on shift when we arrived was extremely helpful and friendly, sadly the same could not be said for the owner of the pub. She was rude and ignorant and when we went down in the evening for a drink and something to eat the atmosphere was frosty to say the least. The food was average at best (apart from the vegetable lasagne that my partner had), the breakfasts were minimal and again the service was sadly lacking. Overall we were not made to feel welcome and due to being the only people staying at the pub on the second night we actually felt like we were in the way. All I can say is that we have now recommended that our friends and family who are often in the area find somewhere else to stay in future.

Cracking pub with separate dining area and fantastic room. The en-suite was done on style. We were greeted by Myleene Klasse amazing! If it could be improved then space on their shed for bicycle storage, scrap the form filling on arrival. Overall very helpful staff, excellent room and decent decor in pub
