“A great surprise!”

This place is an amazing experience, ideal for partners or families wanting something a bit different. We booked a 21ft Tipi for 5 of us and it was absolutely perfect! The site is green, quiet, and the sound of running water from a nearby stream is the icing on the cake. Rob (the on-site owner) immediately went through the "how to open up the Tipi and cut some wood for your burner routine" in a nice, friendly manner in which he spoke with us. He was very helpful with our questions and generally is a nice bloke. He'd had the place running for about 3 years, acquired these hand made Tipi's from a family of specialist Tipi builders in Hereford. The kind of hand crafting which is far too rare these days. The on site kitchen and shower block were very clean and fully functional. Everything is provided for, you could turn up with just a sleeping bag and you'd be able to sustain yourself self catering for your stay. Top reccomendation.

A beautiful secluded site in a large meadow by a stream, with excellent facilities for kitchen, shower etc. The Tipis make this very special - something different and exciting for the children but solid, snug and weatherproof. Very well located for horse riding and walking in the Beacons. I will miss watching the swallows from the wood shed swooping across the field. Overall the highest quality camping experience. Tips would be - don't expect a mobile phone signal, and remember the Beacons can be cool even in summer so bring warm bedding.

We have just returned from five nights at Camp Cynrig and we were very sad to leave. We would absolutely recommend a holiday there.

I asked my children what they would like to say in this review. My 11 year old son told me that it was one of his best holidays although when I first told him we would stay in a tipi for five nights he made it clear that he thought it was a terrible idea. He said, "you MUST come here for a holiday." It took him about 10 minutes of being shown around the site and the tipi by Rob be completely converted. My daughter is 20 and was a fan of Pochahontas as a child so she also fell in love with the place instantly (the tipis and the stream) and proceeded to sing "just around the river bend" at key moments during our stay. She didn't dive into the stream though. Maybe next time.

We haven't been camping for a few years. We have visited the Brecon Beacons very regularly for over a decade and we love the area but we have always rented a cottage previously. We weren't planning to book a camping trip but we are so glad we did.

The tipis are in a great location in the Brecon Beacons and in easy reach of everything they have to offer. Not only is the site clearly beautifully cared for but the showers and toilets are kept immaculately clean. I hadn't thought about lighting a fire inside the tipi and how wonderful that might be. I didn't know that we would be fetching and chopping wood, lighting fires and thinking about what food might taste wonderful with a smoky flavour. I hadn't realised that all of this would be a great way to spend time with the family and that this would be an incredibly memorable holiday.

The site feels peaceful and tranquil and Rob, who runs the site, has given a lot of attention to detail that really make this place special such as: a communal kitchen with gas rings, should the weather prevent cooking outside; lockers for valuables; a place to charge your mobile; a hammock to relax in; a boot wash on the river; a handmade small wooden seesaw for young children under the trees; eggs from the chickens should you want them; a signposted secret garden walk- really the list is endless...

Just spent two nights at Camp Cynrig and I absolutely loved it. I have never been camping or "glamping" before, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I instantly fell in love with this place. The Tipi's were huge inside and so beautiful. We had great fun lighting a fire in our Tipi (something I was initially quite dubious about) It was great fun opening up the flaps on the Tipi to let out the smoke from the fire. It was also a unique experience to chop your own firewood. The whole experience had a really "outdoorsy" feel to it. The site itself was stunning and the facilities were far above what I has expected to find. The owner Rob was fabulous and even guided me into the site when I got lost. I would recommend this site to anyone but it would be especially great for families. If you are thinking about going here- JUST BOOK IT! IT'S FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We spent 2 nights at Camp Cynrig and really wish we'd stayed for longer. It's in a lovely secluded location, no phone signal or wifi so you get a complete break from the outside world. We chose the location due to its dark sky status and weren't disappointed, seeing 2 shooting stars on the clear night. The 18foot tipi was perfect for the 3 of us with a double and single futon bed. Everything you could need is provided from cutlery to fire wood and fresh eggs daily. We enjoyed cooking breakfast in the kitchen and having our other meals at the outside fire pit. The stream running next to the site provided hours of pebble throwing entertainment for our 3 year old, and the selection of games available in the kitchen room were a big hit. Cantref Adventure Farm is only a short walk away and is a really good family day out. Rob is really friendly and tolerated our inability to master the tipi's fire flaps well. We will definitely be returning for a longer stay.

We have stayed at Camp Cynrig three times now which speaks for itself really! Its a lovely secluded place in the country so if you like the outdoors and camping with a level of luxury you'll love this place!!! The tipis are spacious and there is plenty of outdoor space for games and outdoor cooking. We had lovely weather on our last trip, apart from the last night, but luckily there is a kitchen area to cook with a large kitchen table, so we could chill out in there. Sara and Rob will do everything to make your stay brilliant and you can even ask them for fresh eggs for breakfast! It is close to Brecon and numerous activities centres. We used the riding school opposite the camp site and that was brilliant. Come here for adventure or relaxation and its suitable for all ages. It would be very romantic as a couple, but we came as a good of friends. I would probably recommend coming with a car if possible only for easy accessibility to the suurounding area. Thoroughly recommend!! A* :)
