“An excellent centre for the Brecon Beacons”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

Pat Price runs the Belvedere, a modern, clean B &B in Talybont on Usk. Talybont is just outside Brecon and is an excellent centre for exploring the Brecon Beacons. Talybont on Usk may be a small village but it has four pubs, all different and all thriving, the Montgomery and Brecon Canal, a shop and a cafe.

The Belvedere has four ensuite bedrooms and my only criticism is that the bathrooms are quite small with showers only. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with satellite TV and tea and coffee facilities. The breakfasts are excellent and Pat and John very friendly, I have stayed there three times now for walking breaks and I will be back again,

We stayed here for a couple of nights, in Room 2. The room was lovely, and although the en-suite was quite compact everything worked perfectly and it was equipped with lovely fresh towels. The whole place was spotless, and Pat was the perfect hostess - friendly and genuinely interested in her guests without being too forward. Breakfast was simple but good and tasty and a fine start to a day's hiking in the hills. Pat also offers packed lunches, which I did not need, and flask refills. The location is ideal with a short 5 minute stroll to the village and easy access to everything the area has to offer. Recommended.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the biggest, followed by 2. The other 2 are a little "cosier' particularly the sm...

Great location and a few good pubs within walking distance. Pat is an amazing host, very caring and attentive, she gets the balance just right. The rooms are exceptionally clean, warm and comfortable. Great breakfasts. Fantastic base to explore the area. Highly recommended!

We recently stayed at the Belvedere as we had a wedding in the area. It was absolutely perfect in terms of location, extremely reasonably priced, very clean with fantastic breakfast and brown bag lunched! Pat was extremely friendly and helpful through the booking process and really made our weekend away even more amazing by suggesting a great stop on our way into the area as well as an even better suggestion for sights on our way home. Pat's friendly and caring personality made us all (we were a group of 3 couples) feel at home and her B&B was very comfortable and as already mentioned extremely clean. Pat was very accomodating to us, which was appreciated as we were coming in from out of town specifically for a wedding. She organised a taxi when needed, made available ironing and prepared a lovely breakfast - with lots of options! As already mentioned by other reviewers, the B&B is conveniently located within a very short walk to the pubs in the village. Pat's B&B was perfect for our weekend trip and I would highly recommend her location to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the area!

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice and extremely clean with hairdryers available (I did not know so brought my...

We stayed at the very clean, comfortable and welcoming Belvedare for the Brecon Ultra 40mile race in May. We were very specific about breakfast for the race morning but nothing was too much trouble for Pat. The bathrooms were spotless with no shortage of hot water for a nice long and needed shower. For the following day we had a fantastic full breakfast with free range eggs, chunky bacon, very tasty local sausages and a good plate full. It is also idealy situated in the village with the Usk Inn almost next door and the rest of the pubs and local shop/postoffice/cafe all close by. So no need to drive to them and all serve good real ale and food. Also the rates are very good compared to some of the others in the area. Thankyou for a great stay!!

When booking, Pat was friendly & very helpful on the phone. There were 4 of us - all walkers - and all four had an excellent stay at your B & B.

It is unusual to able get a good sleep before a long walk on saturday - the B & B is within 5 minutes walking distance of all the pubs in the village - far enough to a get a peaceful nights' of sleep - I got a full complement of my 7 hour sleep.

The breakfast - excellent & made to order. Rooms immaculate clean, good showers.

Thanks Pat and John- we had good weekend & special thanks for pointing out the canal walk, it was an excellent warm down walk.

Room Tip: relax, enjoy

We have stayed at the Belvedere many times over the past 15 years and have always thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the comfort, cleanliness and top class breakfasts [not sure where the previous reviewer ate!]. The Belvedere provides a superb base for walking, biking or just exploring the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, being ideally situated between Crickhowell and Brecon. We love spending the day out on the hills, knowing that whatever the weather, we are returning to warmth and comfort and hot showers! Evening meals are never a problem, with 4 pub/restaurants within 5 minutes walk and Pat's warm welcome is the icing on the cake. Very much looking forward to our next break at the Belvedere.
