“Absolutely fantastic”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

Visited family at the weekend and took the doggies for a walk down here. It is gorgeous even though the weather was atrocious and nearly blew me off my feet and my sister in law got stuck in sinking mud so be careful. Other than that we had a fantastic time.

“great walk”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Great walk for families , dogs. Nice beach, pony trekking, picnic . etc. Suggest walking shoes. be careful the river that runs into the sea has a strong current , managed to carry our dog a fair way down the river ending up on the other side of the river to us.

“The Great Outdoors”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

I moved to the Bridgend Area 15 years ago from London and fell in love with the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes. Its a fantastic open space where you can choose the type of walking you want to experience based on how adventurous you are.

The sand dunes are criss crossed with bridle paths and walks. However you can within a few minutes strike out and push your self across more challenging terrain. I have 3 dogs and this spot features as one of our favourites walking areas. You can reach the river Ogmore within 10 minutes of leaving the car park and a beautiful stretch of beach where you can walk the Welsh Coastal Path within 20.

If you are ever near Bridgend and want a inexpensive day out then go to Merthyr Mawr.
