Lovely, unspoilt area (except for thoughtless dog owners not cleaning up after their dog). Great for kids to play out their adventures and lovely for a walk on a fine day. Plenty of wild birds and a lovely little beach and swan lake.

I've always loved this nature reserve, it's wild and the reward of getting to the superb beach is well worth the effort. For a longer walk it's worth getting to the cafe at Rest Bay for refreshment before walking back.

Spacious parking available next to the visitors centre in the nature reserve. Stunning views across Swansea bay and Gower as well as across to the Devon coastline. This is a dog walkers' paradise and lovely as well for anyone else who likes an interesting long walk. There are many routes to go along, the lake walk is lovely but my favourite is along the golf course and down towards the beach. For those with a bit more stamina you can carry on into Porthcawl along the beach. The visitors' centre has limited refreshment facilities, coffee/tea from a machine and chocolate bars, ice-cream and a few other things. No sandwiches or anything cooked, so I would advise taking a picnic if you want to spend a few hours there or are taking your children to the beach. It is also worth reading the information about flora and fauna to be found, to see if you can spot some of the species. Stunning wild flowers are out at the moment.

2  Thank Julie S
