Visited Penallta Parc this afternoon for the first time. Spent a few hours walking around the many footpaths and exploring the huge area of reclaimed mining ground. We walked to the top of the hill and the dome at the summit was fantastic. The structure is excellent and the views from the top are breathtaking. We walked down to the 'viewpoint' but were very disappointed to find that the view of Sultan the Pit Pony earth sculpture was blocked by the trees. There were workmen building another viewpoint dwon to the left however, unless the platform will be held up by stilts, the view will not be the best as the vantage point will be too low and facing the pony's back legs. I cannot believe that such a fantastic earth sculpture is being surrounded by trees which hide the fantastic work of art. Why not cut the trees back at the original viewpoint?
The park is wonderful and we will definitely be returning, hopefully, we will have a better view of Sultan next time.
