“Overnight for a Wrecking Ball!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2013

Stayed here for one night to see Springsteen at the Millennium stadium

Originally I'd booked another chain hotel on the outskirts of Newport just off the M4, but after I'd checked Hostelworldcom I found that you could see this place from the Stadium, so its ideal for any events going on there, although we were surprised that there were still availability.

I met some mates there, as they'ed booked in there as well.

We had a bit of food before going to the show. Nice pizza & local stew which was very nice.

The dorm we were in was fine, bunk beds, basic, but perfectly adequate for our needs.

After a great concert, we had a beer at the hostels bar, which was great as most other folk would be trapped in traffic after the show, so I was glad I didn't have to get in my car.

Its on a quiet street & I would have got a better sleep if my fellow dorm dwellers had drawn the blinds to stop the street light entering the room, but in a shared dorm you have to put up with these things.

Showers and toilet facilities were more than adequate, just remember to bring your own towel!

Breakfast was fine, cereal, toast & jams, juice, fruit, tea coffee.

It also has a secure car park at the back, so I saved more money by not having to pay for car parking, which is poor around the stadium.

The staff were freindly and helpful too

So for £25 what was not to like, nothing!

This is a nice place to stay. Its right across the river from the stadium and situated on a walking path which leads to the train station. Getting to Cardiff Castle and St. Mary's St can also be done on foot. The staff is friendly and made for a great stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a window facing the stadium. No worries about road noise at this location.

Very close to the city centre (Castle, museums), 30 min walk or 10 min by bus to the Cardiff Bay (huge shopping&restaurant area, Doctor Who Experience)!
Very helpful and cheerful personnel (Hello, Hugh!!). Good for backpackers (shower, washing machine, lockers) and city travellers (en-suit bathroom, pretty bar, good location).

I stayed here over the weekend when there really weren't many other options.
I can truly say that I can't really fault this place...however for a fair review I will mention a few things.
The room was fairly pricey I paid $50.00 for a two night stay over Saturday and Sunday night.
The dormitory was quite small and I could quite easily say that there wouldn't be much room for luggage if everyone wasn't packing lightly not to mention no lockers in dorms.
The pillows are also very thin.
The place was immaculately clean, given that most of the people that were staying were only there for one / two nights of heavy partying.
The service from the staff was excellent. On the morning of checkout they even made breakfast available to me even though I checked out before the "7:30" starting time.
The Hostel is located 5-10 mins walk to central Cardiff making it an ideal location for partying and sight seeing.
Overall excellent stay however pricey.

Originally booked in a dorm with a public toilet. After discussing with my travel mate, we decided to move to a room with ensure bathroom. In the end the extra amount paid only amounted to a few more pounds per person per night. Very worth it.

Room was huge and bed was extremely comfortable. We slept very well. Bathroom was on the tiny and stuffy side but was still bearable. Breakfast is ok.

All in all, will definitely come back here again

We were pretty happy with this hostel. The staff were friendly, it felt safe, the beds were comfortable (although mine was very creaky), the included breakfast was good and the location is pretty ideal - about 5 minutes from the city centre, so that everything is walkable, and yet far enough so it's not noisy.
Being called a 'Studio Hostel' I was expecting something a bit more... interesting, I guess. It's actually quite a plain hostel, overall. Not much of an atmosphere.
That said, there was a bar underneath that was a decent place to hang out in.

I stayed here accompanying my son on his rugby tour. Fantastic location across the river from the Millennium Stadium and a very short walk from the city centre, yet on a quiet street. Rooms simple but clean, and even en suite, in a hostel. Friendly service and the very convivial bar is open late (but only keg beer - shame). Great choice if you're staying in central Cardiff. Not sure about the parking though.

NosDa has the best location for a hostel in the Welsh capital. On the River Taff, NosDa is opposite Wales’ most iconic building, the Millennium Stadium (Cardiff Castle and Cardiff Central Station are just a stone's throw away). NosDa means 'good night' in Welsh and that is exactly what we are promising. We are the only hostel on the River Taff with a licensed bar and not only that, NosDa is an established live music venue too. What better place to stay than a typically Welsh hostel with local bands, Welsh food & drinks, and local artists bringing you closer to the Welsh culture. We regularly organise beer festivals and Open Mic nights, and all Rugby World Cup and 6 Nations games are featured on our big screen. On a match day you can hear the crowd going wild at the Millennium Stadium, that's how close we are! Even though NosDa is one of the largest hostels in Cardiff, it is proud to have the reputation of being friendly and personal with well-travelled international and local staff on hand 24/7. We are also proud to be a member of Europe's Famous Hostels, which stands for quality and great customer service for an unbeatable price. We welcome international backpackers as well as Stag & Hen parties, rugby teams and school groups. NosDa is experienced in group accommodation and offers a variety of room types to suit all needs. We have a great communal kitchen and plenty of common space to chill out, watch TV, read a book or catch up on emails.
