My wife and I stayed for 3 days, The room was very good nice big T.V.,fridge/freezer cooker not that we used it but it was all very clean. The location is perfect if your visiting Cardiff bay,the theatre is opposite and all the restaurant's are right on your door step.

What they don't say on the web site is the lack of parking. They do provide parking vouchers for a multi story a few minutes walk away but this is not free but is cheap at just £6 a day but is worth considering before you book. Cardiff city centre if just a £5 taxi ride away.

If i was going to the theatre again i would most definitely use the apartments again

We very carefully chose an apartment with A Space in the City to enjoy Mermaid Quaybut without too much noise. However, the company moved us at the last minute to an apartment that was supposed to be of equivalent standand but actually lacked the promised view of the bay and balcony. The aparments was dominated by the noise of lorries unloading outside and a bank of industrial extractor fans, all along the apartment, pumping out noise and smell constantly. It was noisy with the windows closed and we could not open them as the noise and smell would have been unbearable. The carpeted bathroom also smelled of cigarette smoke and damp. The oven was filthy and there was no dishwasher, washing up bowl or even plug. The glass covered dining table had mould showing through. While there was an allocated parking space, it was often already taken, and when we parked in it we got notes on our windscreen saying we should not. It was very difficult to sleep as the rooms that did not face the extractor fan faced the very bright lights of the inner courtyard, which shone through the inadequate blinds all night. This was supposed to be good standard! Obviously, what you book and what you get with this company do not match up - beware!

A Space in the City serviced apartments is not a dedicated serviced apartments facility. They are actual apartments in a private apartment block. Most of the units are owned by residents. The apartment we had was a roomy two bedroom with a full bath and an ensuite shower. The apartment was reasonably furnished and had all the necessary kitchen amenities and utensils.

The location is ideal, on Mermaid Quay. There are restaurants and shopping right on the quay, two grocery stores, as well as ocean side walking trails. The apartments are close to a number of Cardiff attractions, including the Millennium Centre and Doctor Who experience. Cardiff is relatively compact, so other attractions are easily accessible by transit or taxi.

Cons
We had a little problem with check-in. There is no office on site. The process is that you email them a day or two before you will arrive with an arrival time. I am not sure what this information is used for, because 20 minutes before you arrive you are to call so someone can meet you. We had the cabbie call to get directions and let them know we were coming, but no one showed up. Turned out we called the wrong number and the message wasn't passed on.

We arrived during a heat wave, and this apartment is not air conditioned. The apartment had nice big windows that opened wide and it cooled down outside every night. There were two issues with cooling down the apartment. First, the apartment faces out on a busy street and it was too noisy to sit with the windows wide open, and certainly too noisy to sleep, even with earplugs. Second, the blinds that were on the windows were such that you couldn't open the window when the blind was closed. Right outside the apartment was a bright streetlight!

The hot water is on an Eco timer that heats the water overnight. It was great for morning showers, but our teenagers prefer evening showers. There is a boost setting that will get you hot water in about an hour, but it was inconvenient and if the boost is used in the evening, we sometimes didn't have hot water in the morning.

All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again if we are back in Cardiff.

I stayed 2 nights in the 3 bedroom apartment with my family, the location is super at the Cardiff bay and very close to the red dragon.
The apartment is spacious and fairly clean, small problem with hot water as it run out very quickly another issue is that all rooms had queen bed, if one room had 2 single beds it will be even better as my two teenaged boys refused to sleep in the same bed so one ended sleeping on the coutch.
The staff were very punctual when the met me at check in, even when the Internet password didn't work they came back immediately and fixed it.
I highly recommend staying at ocean building and with a space in the city.

My friends and I had booked to stay at century wharf. there were 5 of us in our party, and the room we had booked was for 5. I got a phone call saying they had upgraded us to Ocean Buildings but I didn't get any email confirmation or any other information about this. I was told it slept 6 and was a gold standard. However as I was not given any further information I had forgotten the name of the building we had been moved to and had to phone up and get directions on the day. This is where the disappointment started. We had chosen Century Wharf as it had the swimming pool and gym and when we arrived we realised this building did not. When we got into the room we also discovered the apartment was for 4 people, not 5. It also states this on the website, saying that ocean buildings sleep a maximum of 4 guests. Although the living area was in perfect condition and was big enough for all of us, the sleeping area was not to the standards we were expecting. I had to share a double bed with a friend and it was very tight getting around the other side of the bed. There was only 1 king size bed, which was obviously meant for 2 people, and 2 small double rooms, each meant for single occupancy. Another issue we had was the smell of the flat - people had obviously been smoking in there previously, and as a group of non-smokers this was an issue. I'd say the main issue we had was the lack of hot water. there were signs saying that there would be enough hot water for 10 mins on a power setting, between ALL of us. so that gave us all 2 mins each, unless we switched on the immersion in advance. We decided that 10 minutes would be enough as only a few of us NEEDED to shower (we all would have LIKED to) however, the 3rd person had a cold shower after the use of around 5 mins of warm water, not on a power setting. We all paid almost £100 each for 2 nights stay and for this amount you would expect to be able to shower when you wanted, and have enough room in the bedrooms. As it was, on the 2nd evening I had to wash my hair using boiled water from the kettle, and sit in the bath in my bikini, with a friend helping me wash my hair - not exactly ideal - but at least we had the bikinis. I would NOT recommend using Space in the City, and if they 'Upgrade You' make sure you find out more about where you are being moved to and why!! Very disappointed.

Top location but had problems with checking in. We had been told to pick up keys from Chiquitos, a Mexican restaurant, but no one had keys. Luckily we had a mobile phone and were told we should have gone to the office. What office??? Nothing on our paperwork. We were told to go to entrance and someone would come with the keys. They did eventually arrive but it was a bit hair raising for us, not being used to lots of traffic, and having to park on a double yellow line. The apartment when we finally got in was very nice, tastefully decorated but could have done with a few things which I would have thought were necessities such as a bedside lamp. When you turned the light out, which was by the door, you were in pitch black darkness and had to grope your way over to the bed which was in the corner and flat against the wall. Not a good configuration, it would be better to have the bed away from the wall, with a lamp at the side. There were power points. Also no coffee table. After a long day walking round Cardiff, we came back for a nice glass of wine and some nibbles, but nothing on which to put your glass. Apart from these minor inconveniences, the apartment was certainly in a top location, it was clean and comfortable. The company asked for a review and I mentioned the inconveniences and they said they would be looking at fixing these up. If you are looking for an apartmetn rather than hotel room, I would recommend, but do your homework where to pick up keys before you go.
