I stayed here 1 night on business this week. Room was one of the nicer ones I have had- clean and spacious. I only used the pool and sauna while staying and I was impressed that they had swimming lanes cordoned off and the facilities where perfectly clean and we'll maintained with friendly staff. I ate in the restaurant - food was good and service was quick and friendly. Breakfast in the morning was fairly limited however and I had to work out where this was myself as receptionist failed to let me know but no probs finding this . I only have a number of grumbles on the hotel- noise! I stayed on first floor and during the night it sounded like shutters being pulled down - this wouldn't normally bother me at all but seemed to go on forever - as I got out of bed to call reception it stopped. Not pleasant after travelling all day being woken by this at all. I like certain things in my room- mainly a manual that gives me the basic details- what time food is served where, gym opening times etc, this wasn't there or at least I couldn't find it! And lastly check out! In a hotel this size which caters for business travel I don't believe there should be a Line of people wanting to check out- bills should be printed and ready to go!! I waited upwards of 10 mins- where people are in a rush this for me is unacceptable - also why charge for credit cards- although clearly stated on website so you can't grumble I believe this is unacceptable when you consider the money that is being spent by the average patron. Overall I would stay here again but ask for a room away from shutters or whatever that noise was

We went for a spa package this weekend.

Spa - the treatment rooms were nicely done. Unfortunately there was only a small space to sit which was always full up. The toilets needed updating and lacked cleanliness which seems to be a comment theme in the hotel! There was no spa area for relaxing or a separate jacuzzi, pool, changing rooms etc. so you ended up walking back and forth and loosing any relaxed feeling you might have. The staff were excellent though and made up for the short falls.

Pool area - busy, dated, dirty and no where to sit. We were booked on a spa day but there is no spa to have a day in. Your expected to use the main pool which is overrun by screaming kids etc. NOT relaxing or a spa day at all! It was more like a normal hotel then popping along for a massage. It is NOT a spa day or experience it just has treatment rooms and a sitting area. Everything was a little dirty and just lacking finish. £10 deposit for a dressing gown which was rough and thin and no slippers so you ended up walking bare foot in dirt to get back and forth through the pool turn styles.

Rooms - they were OK but just dirty not cleaned properly the bathroom needed a desperate up date no toiletries and again just a bit grubby and worn. No hot water for a shower though and their toilets don't seem to ever want to flush anywhere in the hotel!

Restaurant - food was excellent and the service was flawless every-time and seemed to be the only clean area (except the greasy plates)

Staff - FANTASTIC!

Overall - not a spa, they are treatment rooms so felt ripped off by the mis marketing. Place needed a deep clean and facilities in dire need of updating. Fine to stay as a stop off but not for a luxury or spa trip

My god you have all seen the crook Thanadier in the les miserables Movie-Musical, well where do you start. went to a 40th birthday party at this venue. Have used a couple of times previously and found it to be a tad expensive but hey ho its a lovely hotel.

This party was on a cold February Saturday night and the bar stuff must have been on their worst behavior. 10p here and there the odd missing note here and there, Now I am not a tight wad but every time I went to the bar I was short changed. Now I was not the only one who was tucked up by the staff. no doubt our small party must have had a couple of quid taken off them over the night.

£30.00 for a bottle of average Rioja where you can buy in all good supermarkets for £6-£7 robbing bar stewards.

Food was not the best, little bit of this a little bit of that, minced cat liver and the odd chicken leg very interesting fare. Glad I dont frequent this venue very often.

Now I have eaten in some very good and expensive restaurants in wales and the west country but i hate being ripped off by some low life for average food, poor wine and terrible shirty bar service.

On arrival, you're greeted with a bright and airy reception with a Starbucks for those coffee lovers.

Check-in: Receptionist extremely pleasant however for a Friday evening with a big event happening, one person on the desk is not enough to deal with everything. Room: Clean, tidy but basic. Had more or less everything you'd require. Bed was extremely comfortable. The bed was on wheels so had a tendency to move on its own which can sometimes be a little disconcerting! The shower was very powerful and very hot which was lovely. TV: basic channels, the Village channel could do with upgrade as regards picture quality, it would be nice for the channels to match up with the numbers in the room TV guide. Function room: the bar crowded very quickly, forming a bottleneck at the entrance due to too much clutter (tables and chairs) heaven knows what would have happened had there been a fire!

Breakfast: was a good selection of cereals, fruits with the obligatory cooked breakfast with toast, etc. All very tasty. It was a very busy Saturday morning and I think the staff may have struggled to keep up with the large numbers of people and food availability. Good choice of tables however, for two persons or larger groups. Waiting staff very pleasant.

Can't comment on the spa facilities as I didn't use them but I did observe that they were very popular, judging by the amount of people going in and coming out.

The hotel could do with some better signage from the motorway and the road outside. It would be very easy to drive straight past the entrance, as I did!

Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed one night in February on a Saturday night. The hotel is big and was very busy. However, the facilities were good for the price we payed and the staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly. We arrived at the hotel early evening on Saturday and the man on reception was very welcoming. The family room was big if a little shabby but comparable to hotels of this type. There was a little noise in the corridors at night and a background hum of music until the pub closed so a little extra soundproofing would be a welcome addition. The breakfast again was ok for the price we paid but the service was excellent with all members of staff very polite and friendly.

The real plus with this hotel especially if you have kids is the pool. The pool was big with family changing rooms with a shower and changing table in each cubicle. Very practical if you have a young family.

We would definitely stay again as this hotel is excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Bring water with you if you prefer bottled water in the room as this was £2.50 to purchase in the ho...
