Brilliant location, close to shops and restaurants. Prefect for Rugby days or Christmas shopping.

Apartment was done modernly and kept clean and tidy. Close to Tesco Express for coffee/tea and any items needed.

Me, my wife and adult daughter stayed at these apartments for 5 nights from January 22nd to 27th 2014. The big plus is the location, as you are in downtown Cardiff. Step outside, cross the street and you’re in the shopping center. The parking situation is odd as there is an entrance to parking on the ground floor of this building but it is for the hotel next door. Parking for these apartments is the public NCP at 6 pounds for 24 hours. The nearest is on the same side of the road (on your right as you come out) about 8 mins walk away and is covered, although as many multi stories are in the UK it was very tight. We had an SUV rental and I needed the help of a passenger to maneuver it into a spot. Access to the apartments to pick up or drop off is also a problem. The Meridian fronts onto a busy road with no parking or stopping on the street. There is a two car length pull in that was always either full or with one car blocking it. Again this is shared with the hotel next door. We had a corner two bedroom apartment that apparently had the best view available although this was only of the street outside, pub opposite and the railway station and some more of the city in the distance. Check in was okay, someone was on the desk when we got there but as these are corporate almost residential accommodations there is no ‘staff’ as you would find at a hotel.
The apartment had a hallway with entrance to the living/dining room with kitchenette, then there was a main bedroom off this hallway without a bathroom and another with a bathroom then a separate bathroom altogether. Roomy with enough light although you could not get the door fully open to the bathroom that was off the bedroom as it hit the bed, had to squeeze in. Fridge/freezer, dish washer. Flat screen TV etc.
What let the whole experience down was the condition of the apartment and to some degree the building. On arriving we made a quick note of some problems, decorative mirror cracked in living room, leg broken on bed, patio door handle broken, fire alarm hanging from ceiling. On reporting these, someone came up promptly to take the mirror away and ‘fix’ the other items. However, some of the fixes did not hold and resolve the problems. We could have reported them again but we wanted to get on with our stay and not wait around all day for things to be repaired. The cleanliness was not up to scratch either….. mold on bathroom tile grout, fridge with spill stains and needing defrosting, cables lying on kitchen cabinet tops, floor quickly mopped but still with bits everywhere, pots pans chinaware washed but not clean etc. The beds were thick boxes with not so thick mattresses, not comfortable. Lastly the veranda railing gave us a shock because it moved quite a bit when we leaned on it and when the wind got up it shook a lot. Only one of the two elevators was working at any given time and the floor indicator was not functioning.
We are natives of Cardiff and will of course return soon. We intend trying a location in the bay. If we ever want to stay in the center again we would have to think twice about the Meridian gateway because the small things let it down.

Room Tip: Try and get a two room apartment even if you dont need it.

This was a booking made in haste and the wrong apartment block was booked . We thought we would try it as we were there.
What a dreadful apartment! Sparsely fitted out, grubby, tired. No balcony, main living room window would only open an inch, view of the car park and railway line ,where trains passed by all through the night so sleep quality was zilch.
We had gone out for dinner, entered the key code on return which failed to work. There is an emergency number you can call, which we called for over half an hour and nobody answered.By this time several guests returned and could not gain access or a response to the emergency number.finally a guest went to the side of the building and broke in through the door and let us all in.
The following morning we complained to the poor girl on front desk who said complaints had to be made to management but would have to be done in writing as there was never one there on duty...and she was close to tears saying she couldn't cope with the amount of complaints she has to deal with but never gets any senior staff support.
This place was a shambles...save your money and avoid this place like the plague.

Room Tip: Tip...don't book any room,go somewhere else!

Centrally located and well equipped but seriously in need of proper management, is how I viewed my stay in the Meridian Terrace Apartments. For a short stay, in my view better than a hotel, but sadly the finer details made the experience less enjoyable. The apartments are very new so the furnishing and equipment is in good nick and the linen new and clean. However the bathroom was a disaster area. It was damp and when the drain in the hand basin got blocked the reception staff said they wold report it, but 2 days later, when I checked out It was still full of dirty water. The design style is tasteful though spartan but there were some curiosities. For example if the bathroom door was open you bashed into it when you opened the front door. The brand new microwave in the kitchen worked fine but the Bolognaise made by the previous tenant was still on the door of the appliance. The price was good and I would use the place again for that reason alone, but the bad management takes the gilt off the gingerbread. If they don't attend to the servicing the place will get spoiled very quickly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back of the building. The front is on a busy road.

Overall meridian plaza is a nice place to stay with a good location. The room was fine, clean as u would expect, in fact the only thing wrong with the apartment was the attitude the girls on reception had. They were not one bit friendly or helpful infact they didn't so much as lift there heads to acknowledge me each time I pasted. Very rude. They let down meridian plaza.

Good value accommodation in the centre of Cardiff. Apartment was clean and well equipped. The only downsides were very slow wifi and only one thin pillow each on the bed, bring your own for a defent night's sleep. Would definitely use again when next in Cardiff.

First time at the apartments, the location and check in procedure are excellent.
One consideration would be that I could not turn the heating down, but just opening the window/ sliding door onto the balcony solved this issue.
The single bedded studio apartment was adequate for our needs and all the amenities mentioned where in good working order.
I would suggest if you are visiting you phone after booking to request a balcony facing John Lewis if you are a light sleeper as the noise from the train tracks right next door could be a disturbance.
To echo the other reviews there is a Tesco express across the road and hundreds of bars / restaurants within a few minutes’ walk.
In addition Polite staff who very kindly stored our luggage upon check out till 2:00 p.m.
