“Generally Good.”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

Check in fast and friendly. Ased for high uo room and got it. Large rooms, clean, comfy bed, modern bathroon, shower in bath (prefer seperate). Room service food good. Car park expensive at 15 pounds a night and we stayed 4 nights! I know the hotel will say its competitive for the area but its expensive full stop. The hotel fire alarm sounded at 10am one morning and at 7am another morning waking us (I know thats what they are for!) But no apology was offered. A simple note in both lifts would have covered that off but this was not though of.

Room Tip: Ask for floor 18 or above and a room facing the bay not the rail station.

Hello, thank you very much for your recent review, I was really pleased that we managed to find you a room on one of our higher floors with a great view. Thank you for your feedback regarding the room and the bathroom too.

I also appreciate your feedback regarding the parking, we do believe that this represents great value when compared with other car parks nearby. You also have the convenience of being right next to the hotel itself.

Thank you also for understanding the importance to us of guest safety during fire drills, I'm sorry that you feel we did not apologise for this, I will discuss your feedback with other managers to see if we can improve upon this.

Kind regards

Jens

A small group of us have just stayed at this hotel for a weekend. The location is excellent for shopping, the train station and nightlife. We booked bed only as we went across the road to John Lewis for breakfast which cost much less. Our room (1605) had an adjoining room which was not locked off and were were able to walk right through! Staff did fix this immediately. Our aircon/heating in the room was noisy and clicked all the time. Also no biscuits with the tea and coffee facilities. Bathroom was lovely and big and the shower was beautiful, it was good to have an iron in the room, but we struggled to find a plug for the hairdryer near a mirror. The room was nice a quiet with good views. We did not eat in the hotel, so cannot comment on that. Staff were all nice and friendly.

Hello, thank you very much for your recent review, I was pleased to read that you enjoyed the room facilities and the views, thank you for letting us know about the adjoining room being unlocked and allowing us to fix this.

Thank you also for your feedback regarding the air conditioning & the lack of biscuits, I'm just sorry that we never had an opportunity to resolve this for you during your stay.

I've asked our housekeeping team to investigate the issue with the plug and mirror and report back to me.

I look forward to welcoming you on your next trip to Cardiff

Kind regards

I was extremely disappointed from start to finish. After staying at a Radisson Edwardian in London, we decided that on our trip to Cardiff we would chose go for the Radisson as we had such an amazing experience in London. When we arrived to check in, we were greeted by a miserable woman who was rude, impatient and patronising. She was unhelpful, uninformative and besides the point downright rude! We then continued to our room which was on the 14th floor which had a disgusting view of the city’s waste land and train track. Rooms were extremely noisy; all we could hear was people outside of the room even whilst the TV was on and doors slamming. Later that day after a walk around Cardiff, we thought we would check out the hotel restaurant, we walked up to have a look (we knew exactly where was going) and walked back down to continue back to our hotel room, on the way, we were ‘greeted’ by a snooty patronising receptionist asking if he could help us. I simply said no! This left me and my partner feeling completely out of place and uncomfortable. I am completely and utterly appalled at the customer service ‘skills’ of staff at this hotel and would seriously suggest some customer service training as they are in DESPERATE need of it. Not only was I intimidated and patronised by the way and the manner I was spoke to but also absolutely appalled!!! That night we barely slept through the noise of slamming doors. The next morning we continued to breakfast, again, staff was extremely rude and all they seemed to care about was collecting plates when perhaps they should focus on the dried up food, and in some cases lack of food as on our arrival there was no bacon, no beans, nor fried or poached eggs. That day, we couldn’t even be bothered to take advantage of the hotels facilities as it was simply a depressing un-atmospheric place which to be honest, I couldn’t wait to leave! I feel that this hotel is simply an embarrassment the Radisson group and would definitely NOT recommend it to anyone I know.

We stayed for two nights in room 312, we were impressed with the room had a good view and a huge bathroom, the bed was comfy, good size tv and quiet efficient aircon. Our only complaints, we travelled 2half hours and told car park was full so we parked at st David's 2 NOTE ST DAVID'S 2 ONLY CHARGE £2 for overnight parking between midnight and 6am so loads cheaper than most hotels in Cardiff, the final night there was torrential rain and the corner of of room sounded like drips on a tin roof and kept us awake, we mentioned it on departure and they wrote off our bar bill :)

Hello, thank you for your review, I was really pleased with your feedback regarding your room and the facilities. Thank you too for your feedback regarding parking at the hotel, spaces can be limited but there are many other options nearby such as St Davids 2 where you parked.

Finally, thank you for telling us about the noise in your room from the storm outside and giving us an opportunity to compensate you for this. I look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Cardiff.

Kind regards

Really nice hotel. Decent size room, big bed & nice bathroom. Parking has limited capacity, so you may have to park somewhere else (which could cost you more!) so watch out for this.
We had also had to wait for someone to make up the bed, even though we were checking-in at 5pm, but this was relatively minor issue.
Excellent location! 2minute walk to main shopping area, bars and restaurants.

The housekeeping at this modern hotel is excellent. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed (although i wasn't keen on the colour scheme). Free wi-fi with only your name and room number needed was appreciated. It is a shame that the windows cannot be opened, but the road outside was very noisy so perhaps that was as well - the aircon worked well, as did the heated towel rail. Breakfast looked impressive, with every combination imaginable on offer, although in terms of taste the full English was no more than OK. The price of the Italian restaurant we thought was extortionate and we had two excellent courses with drinks at the nearby Duke of Wellington for the price of one plate of pasta in the hotel.
