“Getting even better..”
Reviewed 29 March 2013

I've been stopping here more often as of late, as my previous favourite hotel in Cardiff has got a bit shabby.
Stayed 3 times in the last month, and I must say the experience has been great all three times. The staff have been really good, and arranged little things which have been incredibly helpful ( like late checkout one day, which helped my onward journey no end..).

Rooms are well appointed and spacious. Always clean too.

The only thing I don't like about this place is the daft pillars blocking the check in desks, but I guess these are holding the building up.. And if this is my only petty complaint, then it's an indication that I think the place is pretty tip top.

Room Tip: Best to get a higher floor room. Stayed on the third floor once, it was a bit dark..

It is always a pleasure to hear from regular guests such as yourself, and I am thrilled that you have always had a pleasant stay with us here at Radisson Blu Hotel in Cardiff. It is really pleasing to read such as positive review about the levels of service you received from our staff, as we work extremely hard to provide the best possible service to all our guests.

Thank you for your feedback on our check-in layout. You are correct that the pillars are part of the hotel structure, but we do take on board your comments.

We very much hope to continue to be your hotel of choice when in Cardiff.

Kind Regards,
Jens

We stayed for 2 nights to watch the mighty Wales crush England ! This is the place to stay in Cardiff Great Service the food in Fellini is wonderful ! The rooms spacious and very comfortable Welsh Breakfast the best ever Just a great experience
The only downside if the small car park but go to John Lewis opposite it's cheap and open from 06.30 am to leave if you have to get away early !
We will be back for the Autumn Internationals

I am really pleased that you chose our hotel for your recent trip to watch the 6 Nations Rugby. As you discovered, we are conveniently located for The Millennium Stadium and the city centre.

It is also great to hear you had a wonderful meal in our Filini restaurant and enjoyed our super breakfast so much – we understand the importance of starting the day with a proper meal, and this is cited as a highlight by many of our guests.

We do have a popular car parking area at the hotel, which means we cannot always accommodate every guest due to a limited amount of spaces. But as you have mentioned there are many other car parks nearby such as the John Lewis car park across the road from the hotel.

We very much look forward to having you stay with us again in the autumn.

Kind Regards,
Jens

We stayed one Saturday night in the hotel, room was large clean and modern. The location is good to the city centre (1 min walk), you are right in the city centre but away from the noise.

I would ask to be facing the rear side of the hotel if you can, staff were very polite to us.

We stayed in a junior suite on the 3rd November 2012 - primarily for location to the adjacent St.Davids shopping center as this was very much a Xmas shopping trip. We were concerned about parking as we were heading in on a Saturday - Cardiff can fill up spaces fast in the center, and I've never been a fan of park and ride personally, so I rang ahead spoke to reception. They advised they have a small number of spaces in the base of the hotel but they are first come first served, which is fair enough. Fortunately, knowing this, we arrived a little ahead of our check in time and that meant there were spare spaces thankfully. There are nearby car parks, but nothing beats having your car at the hotel really does it?

Check-in was fast and efficient, our room, a junior suite, was very high up, 15th floor or thereabouts, and it was fantastic value I felt. I've stayed in all manner of hotels, and this was a lot of room for the money, in particular when you see the city views - look down at the city and trains below and suddenly it will hit you - you don't hear a thing! The room was peaceful to say the least, incredible given its city center location and having a main train station nearby - I suspect this was an upper floor benefit, something very much appreciated in any event. Bathroom was large and full of the usual amenities, and as you can see from the picture, the room was spacious with plenty seating and closest space.

Breakfast the next day was the usual buffet selection, but a lot of choice and all very good, enjoyed it a lot. All in all, having stayed in Cardiff in recent years at the Park Plaza, Holland House, Novotel, and even the 5 star St.Davids, provided you get a junior suite, then this has to be one of the best value stays in Cardiff.

Room Tip: Go high, get a junior suite on the upper floors if you want peaceful sleep and lots of space

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and helpful review. We really couldn’t wish for a better more central location. Like you say, we are close to St David’s Shopping Centre. We do have a limited area for parking spaces and we attempt to manage this space as efficiently as possible. I am delighted you were able to park your car easily on your visit. As you pointed out, there are many other car parks nearby such as the John Lewis car park should they be required.

It is really great to hear your check-in experience was fast and efficient. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed staying in one of our Junior suites, and appreciated the view overlooking Cardiff and beyond. I am delighted that you noticed how quiet our rooms are - it is great to be in the city centre but it is just as important to have a peaceful, relaxing stay.

We work hard to offer all guests the best possible value so it is very pleasing to see you ranking us as one of the best.

I thank you again for taking the time to write such a positive review.

Kind Regards,
Jens

Our rooms provide a comfortable and peaceful haven for guests, and I hope you appreciated the modern design and space offered in the hotel. The views from our rooms over Cardiff city are simply breath-taking!

We know how important it is to start the day correctly, so I am delighted that you enjoyed our Super Breakfast Buffet so much, and recognised the real calibre of staff involved here.
I am delighted that your meal in our Filini Restaurant was such a hit – our team of chefs work hard to craft a range of culinary delights using the freshest ingredients. There really is something to suit every palate.

We cannot wait to welcome you back for a third visit soon!

Second time for staying here, and wasn't disappointed.

Check in was quick and easy everything waiting for me to sign off. Conveniently close to the city, public transport and parking (John Lewis is a good deal).

The room was well serviced, clean and in good order. The bathroom was spacious and very clean.

Breakfast was included and there was no delay in being seating, however there was a bit if a delay getting to the breakfast buffet. Like a lot of hotels, you only get 2 tea bags 2 coffee's 4 milk pots but ask at reception and you can get a re-supply begs the question why not leave double of everything??
