We stayed in the Radisson blu for one night only in room 2101 with amazing views over Cardiff. This however was the only thing that impressed us about this hotel. On arrival were left to wait to enter the car park for 10 minutes as nobody would answer the intercom system. After having to ring the hotel directly we were told that there was a £15 charge for parking in there overnight. (This isn't a budget hotel, parking SHOULD be included in the price).
After a farcical entrance we then check in to a non-welcoming reception staff I understand that it was Easter Sunday and nobody wanted to be in work but a smile wouldn't have gone a miss.
We previously had requested a business class room with a king size bed, walked into a room with twin beds, called reception to speak to "happiness" and he said he would send somebody straight away as no other rooms were available. We then awkwardly had to stand around while a housekeeper changed our twin into a king.
Things could only get better from here we thought!!! The nespresso machine was faulty and did not work. The housekeeper however was accommodating and supplied us with a new machine promptly.
The bathroom was big and modern but the bath was really small and in a bathroom of this size they could of utilised the space better by installing a larger bath.
Breakfast was good and the option that you could get it delivered to your room for free was a perk.
Overall, the hotel is a great location with shops , restaurants and bars literally on the doorstep. I would advise that this hotel is purely suited for business guests as there was nothing WOW or different from a Travelodge.

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up purely for the view and sunset at night

We were in Cardiff for 8 nights and thought the hotel fully met our needs. As several have mentioned, the location was perfect. Once across the street, one is in the heart of shopping and myriad restaurants. It was a short walk to the castle. We didn't even need a taxi to get to the train station as it was so close and an easy walk even pulling large suitcases.

We had a business class room on the 17th floor which had a nice view of the city and was quiet despite the closeness of the train tracks. The room was large enough to have room to store our suitcases and some, but not a great lot, of storage room in the wardrobe. There was an empty refrigerator which we value much more than a stocked minibar, and a comfortable upholstered chair. Unfortunately, the windows didn't open. While we were very comfortable with the layout of the room, it was one of the most unattractive hotel rooms we have every stayed in. I understand the hotel has three different room styles, and I wouldn't even quess at what the designer had in mind for this style. The wardrobe was early white Ikea; the chair, end table, and desk were sturdy, curvy, and guilded; pictures in the room were pink and gold oriental; and ,the room was dominated by a built-in carpeted luggage rack that looked like a seat for 2 from run down public transit. The carpeting was huge flowers in primary colors on a blue background. I recommend you ask for a different style room if aesthetics matter. The bathroom was large and well lit.

The bar served a nice variety of wines by the glass at reasonable prices and the bar staff was very friendly. The bar food we had was very tasty. The breakfast was typical for this level of hotel. The housekeeping was excellent, and they were accommodating about cleaning the room when we asked.

We would stay here again, but we'd get a different style room.

Our hotel is ideally placed in the heart of Cardiff and many of our guests find the nearby train station a perfect travel option. I am disappointed to hear you did not find the design of the room to your liking. The style of room is a favourite with many of our guest but I do appreciate everyone has their own particular style. Next time we will be happy to provide a room with a different style more suited to your own preference.

I am delighted you took the time to enjoy a relaxing drink in our hotel bar and our excellent bar team will be pleased to read your comment. Our housekeeping staff are trained to maintain the highest standards and I am pleased they are continuing to reach and surpass the standard our guest expect.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I have taken on board all your feedback in order to improve our service as much as possible.
Kind Regards,
Jens

Stayed here when going to a concert in Cardiff. Hotel close to Motorpoint area, and station. Hotel basic, nice rooms but stayed in better for less money. Rooms noisy, they have a serious problem with pipes !! Everytime someone flushed, you knew about it !! Breakfast was ok, nothing special, felt tables were to close together. Strange smell in downstairs lounge ??? Felt bars prices were a little high. Ok if you need a city centre hotel, but shop around first.

Room Tip: If you want a good view, you had better ask.

I am delighted to hear you found our location close to the Motorpoint Arena and convenient for travelling by train. I am concerned to hear there was a noise issue with your stay. Thank you for highlighting this so that we can investigate further.

I am surprised to hear you did not find our breakfast to your liking. Great thought has gone into the Super Breakfast Buffet and my fantastic team know the high standards expected. We always look for ways to improve our service and your feedback is vital to this. We keep our bar prices as competitive as possible and feel we provide great value.

We take great care to improve our service wherever possible and your feedback will assist us in providing a quality service for all our guests.

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for one night as we were going to watch the darts at the motorpoint arena. We stayed in a junior suite priced £114 including breakfast and free movies. The location was great close to everything we needed. The room was spotless and very spacious with a sitting area and a bed area split by a partition in which there were 2 tv's. the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone. It is worth paying the extra for the suite.

I've been stopping here more often as of late, as my previous favourite hotel in Cardiff has got a bit shabby.
Stayed 3 times in the last month, and I must say the experience has been great all three times. The staff have been really good, and arranged little things which have been incredibly helpful ( like late checkout one day, which helped my onward journey no end..).

Rooms are well appointed and spacious. Always clean too.

The only thing I don't like about this place is the daft pillars blocking the check in desks, but I guess these are holding the building up.. And if this is my only petty complaint, then it's an indication that I think the place is pretty tip top.

Room Tip: Best to get a higher floor room. Stayed on the third floor once, it was a bit dark..

It is always a pleasure to hear from regular guests such as yourself, and I am thrilled that you have always had a pleasant stay with us here at Radisson Blu Hotel in Cardiff. It is really pleasing to read such as positive review about the levels of service you received from our staff, as we work extremely hard to provide the best possible service to all our guests.

Thank you for your feedback on our check-in layout. You are correct that the pillars are part of the hotel structure, but we do take on board your comments.

The only downside if the small car park but go to John Lewis opposite it's cheap and open from 06.30 am to leave if you have to get away early !
We will be back for the Autumn Internationals

I am really pleased that you chose our hotel for your recent trip to watch the 6 Nations Rugby. As you discovered, we are conveniently located for The Millennium Stadium and the city centre.

It is also great to hear you had a wonderful meal in our Filini restaurant and enjoyed our super breakfast so much – we understand the importance of starting the day with a proper meal, and this is cited as a highlight by many of our guests.

We do have a popular car parking area at the hotel, which means we cannot always accommodate every guest due to a limited amount of spaces. But as you have mentioned there are many other car parks nearby such as the John Lewis car park across the road from the hotel.

We very much look forward to having you stay with us again in the autumn.

Kind Regards,
Jens
