Nice facilities with friendly staff and fast, free wifi. Comfy beds and great views of the city. Being right in the city center, the hotel is close to all the great things to do in downtown Cardiff, yet it's nearby bus stops if you want to venture down to the beautiful Mermaid Quay and attractions like the Millenium Centre and the Doctor Who Experience. My first choice when staying in Cardiff.

My husband and I stayed at the Radisson Blu this weekend in a junior suite for one night and we were very impressed with this hotel. The hotel is in a fantastic location to explore Cardiff. Near the train and bus station and close to restaurants, bars and shopping (opposite the hotel is the back entrance to John Lewis). Check in was quick and the reception staff were polite and friendly. We parked in the underground hotel car park which was very convenient, but expensive, £15 for 24 hours.
We were given a room on the 20th floor which had amazing views across Cardiff. The room had a huge wall of floor to ceiling windows which makes the most of the fantastic views. The suite was large, contemporary in design and decor and very comfortable. The towels, robes and bed linen were all of a high standard. Good selection of tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water in the room with also a coffee machine included. The bathroom was well appointed with two sinks, a shower and bath and nice toiletries. The bed was huge and very comfortable and it lovely to lay there and watch the Cardiff cityscape. Everything we needed or wanted was in the room, superb! As part of the suite package, an open bar was offered between 6-8pm. We were warmly greeted by the attentive bar man who looked after us well the whole time we were there. We were served canapés which were very nice to accompany our drinks and we enjoyed a pleasant evening in the hotel. We both slept really well, nice and quiet and the bed was so comfortable. Unfortunately we did have a very noisy family near us with very active children who made a lot of noise in the morning, but this wasn't the hotel's fault.
Breakfast was delicious. We were sat in a separate area and we could order from the breakfast menu or visit the breakfast buffet. The buffet was excellent, wonderful choice of hot food including quorn sausages, delicious mushrooms, potatoes and choice of eggs. Pastries, cheeses and meats, breads and toast were also on offer. We could also choose from a range of fresh bottled juices. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast, great quality ingredients, great selection and good service.
Check out was swift, and again, the receptionist was polite and friendly.
My only recommendation would be to lower the price of the hotel parking and it would be nice if the hotel had a spa. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return and recommend to others.

Room Tip: If you can, upgrade to a suite, it was well worth the extra.

Can't say that I loved my stay here. My boyfriend had booked it as my birthday surprise and I just felt it lacked a little sparkle.
Negative:
Long wait to check in!
No offer to help with our luggage.
The room felt a little tired and could have done with a slightly better clean (I put my hand in the leather storage box above the desk only to get covered in dust, and the cables hanging down behind the luggage holder was not what I had expected.)
As I cannot stand feather pillows by boyfriend had asked for non-feather but we had feather all the same. Getting back from our meal at around midnight I was tired and just wanted to go bed so put up with the feather pillows.
Not very long after going to bed we were awoken by loud screaming that went on for some time, hoping a member of staff would attend to this we tried to ignore it. Eventually we had to ring down and ask someone to sort it out.
Also having asked for a quiet room we were surprised that we were put on the side of the railway line (avoid being on this side if possible, the view is not great on this side) and were awoken by trains at 6.30am!
If you can tolerate the heat avoid turning on the air conditioner as it is very noisy.
POSITIVE:
All the staff we encountered were friendly - especially the young man serving at the business bar.
The public areas of the hotel were very impressive.
Upon check out the lady checking us out genuinely seemed interested in whether we had enjoyed our stay or not and took our 2 drinks off our bill as we complained about the screaming that awoke us.
Excellent location for town centre - especially St Davids Shopping Mall!

I am afraid to say after the worst nights sleep when next in Cardiff I will probably avoid the Radisson Blu.

Arrived on Sunday night at 7.45pm and given complimentary drinks (basic beer and not so good quality wine) but better then nothing. Nice touch but a little more generous with the wine selection would be good. The business class room was always good, same as where I stayed at Radisson Blu in Leeds, Stockholm and others. Top floor 19th with corner windows full height glass. Beautiful view of Cardiff.
Location is fantastic, just across the road from John Lewis and all the shopping mall and shopping streets. Jamie's Oliver Italian is just 2 minutes walk away.
Parking cost £15 for 24 hours from anytime arrival and very secure through roller shutter. NCP half the cost but you get security at the hotel.
Receptionists very polite and helpful. Bar staff excellent and we had snack , Lasagne , salad etc and the quality was good.
Good bath and shower, nice large room. TV a touch small and the free films took ages to load and given up after 10 minutes. Coffee machine and tea tray. One bag of tea for each flavour, so ask for more as soon as you need. Bed very large and very comfortable.
They are other hotels near by but this is the most convenient location.
Breakfast order sheet on the door gone missing, the breakfast ordered for 10 arrived at 11am after two phone calls and a call from the kitchen. When it arrives, it was very good and plenty full.
In apology, the parking fee was removed. Good management and PR.
We had similar situation in Leeds and 2 champagne glasses served with the breakfast as and parking removed as complimentary apology.
It is not the hotel fault . I think other guests removed the order sheet for fun. Stupid prank.
I am a fan of Radisson Blu and will stay again. Business Class room coast £40 over the standard room but it is worth it as it includes free films, breakfast, newspaper, expresso machine and better view. I have no idea what the standard room includes as I never stayed in one.
Good job Radisson.

Room Tip: Go for Business Class if you can. Top floor is the 19th mostly Business Class Rooms.

We have stayed in Cardiff a few times for business, including the Hilton and St David's, however this was a much better hotel than the others. We got in the underground parking and then a wonderful check in. Our room was not he 20th floor and had amazing views. Breakfast was wonderful and really good food. The hotel was busy with lots of Frenchmen and hospitality clients for the rugby.
Only downsides were the lifts were very busy and there was a lot of queuing and a jug of milk in the fridge instead of cartons would have been lovely.
In all if you are going to Cardiff then stay here.

My wife and I have just returned from an amazing stay here! We booked into a junior suite which had stunning views across the city from the 19th floor!! The suite was spacious and contemporary and very well presented!!! We had breakfast in the business lounge and there was a massive selection of freshly cooked and well presented items to choose from. Well done Raddison Blu for an exemplary customer experience!! We will definitely be recommending your hotel to others and will definitely be returning again!!!
