Just got back from a weekend in Cardiff and stayed at the St Hilary Hotel, We were very well looked after, had a lovely clean room with big bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for us. Would recommend to all. 10 minute walk and your in the town and just down the road are a few very good pub/resturants.

My husband & I stayed at this hotel For a long weekend recently & we will certainly be going back. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was perfect. Room was warm and very clean, breakfast was extremely generous. We are looking forward to going back and as such have re-booked.

Room was damp and smelly. Had to spend the weekend avoiding it at all costs. Cheap accomodation but lacks even basic hygiene and maintenance. Will not stay here again.

Stayed here with a group for a rugby weekend - you get for what you pay for really.... seemed more along the lines of a hostel than a hotel really. Rooms weren't all that clean but were quite damp. Blankets rather than duvets on the beds.

Some rooms come with en suites others don't so may be sharing a bathroom with randomers. (some of the en suites even have doors on them, bizarely others don't!)

Because of the whole hostel style vibe to the place don't expect to get much sleep here - fellow guests were banging on floors / kicking doors and generally making noise until all hours.

Need to pay for full stay upfront in cash only - can only assume if they didn't have this policy a lot of people would dispute paying after the experience of staying. The check out time is 10 in the morning, this wasn't a problem as I couldn't wait to leave.......

Please do not book this hotel! Whenwe arrived the woman opened the door and the stench of grease and cigarrette smoke was awful! What have I brought my family to?! The room was so disgusting! The toilet had poo stains still in it and the shower head was clogged with black mold. The kettle stilll had water in it with a film of mold on it! The windows were thick with dirt and when my daughter and I were bitten by something my husband said " let's get out of here!" so we asked for our money back and left after just 30 mins in room!! My advice is book a premier inn which is what we did when we left this hideous excuse for a hotel!!! I will be reporting to environmental health!

We we disappointed with this B&B. The room was small and the ensuite had no door on it (there was one originally!). The bed was small and not particularly comfortable.

There was no facility to pay by credit card, only cash and it would have been helpful if this had been mentioned at the time of booking..

The location was reasonable, ok for the city centre but it's on quite a busy road - fortunately our room faced the back. Parking was on-street and difficult to find a space.

Breakfast was passable but not worth getting up for!

We stayed at St Hilary's in Cardiff for one night. We were 4 people travelling (2 men 2 women). They gave us 2 ensuite double rooms. The overall impression was good, although it did not have anything special. Two of us were on the first floor where the only bad thing I could notice was the lack of sound-proof walls. The ringing of the door bell went straight to my ears!

Also, the fire alarm kept ringing quite often, not at a very irritating level however. The largest problem we encountered happened at the morning after breakfast. The room upstairs was filled with smoke and was smellling fried eggs, bacon and sausage! It was a good thing that we weren't going to stay for another day, or it could be quite annoying. that room had another problem as well, the bathroom door was not closing properly and my friends were using a chair to close it.

The lady in the service was quite nice and helpful. The location is also great, it takes only about 15 to 20 minutes to reach the castle and on the way you can pass through a wonderful park.

The overall impression was not bad. However, with 25 pounds a person I believe that a better B&B can be found. Therefore, my suggestion is to search but have St Hilary as a backup choise for staying in cardiff.
