“Treated like royalty”
Reviewed 22 November 2011

I stayed at this superb hotel recently and from arrival to departure the attentive staff were absolutley amazing. Can I say thankyou to Philip for ALL his help and attention to my needs, having mobility problems he could not do enough. Jake,Monica and Donata on reception made me feel like royalty. Breakfast were wonderful. Rooms are beautiful, I had a junior suite and every attention to detail had been considered. Valet parking by the afore mentioned Philip and when I offered a gratuity he refused saying "no please it's my job,no need",how nice.I would stay here again without hesitation. THANKYOU ALL.

Room Tip: Ask to overlook the bay.

Just had a long weekend break at St Davids. Hotel well situated and we had a nice view over Cardiff Bay from our bedroom. Hotel facilities were excellent and we had a sumptuous meal in the hotel resteraunt. Room was tidy and spacious and the staff were very courteous. Overall we had a great time and did some excellent Xmas shopping in the City Centre.

Had a weekend break at this hotel recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, the upgrade to a Junior Suite definitely helped. Lovely large room, very clean and the chocolates and champagne were a nice little touch. Spa seemed a little crowded but treatment was pretty good.

Clean, quiet, spacious room, with fantastic views of Cardiff Bay.

The price was reasonable.

The hotel staff were very helpful, we had to visit a hospital/GP surgery during our stay, the staff sorted this out for us.

This was our tenth visit to The St Davids, first staying when it had just opened when it was truly 5 stars in all areas, since when we have watched it go down hill gradually and when it changed hands a few years ago, it completed the transformation to chain corporate hotel with no character (other than the amazing building and position) and felt ordinary at best.

However, we decided to give it another go and were very pleased with our stay - the staff were very good on reception, the rooms are fine (if in need of some refurbishment in the bathroom) and the bar is comfortable. There was a tiny hiccup with our check-in and the hotel put a complimentary bottle of wine in our room by way of recompense - a charming and much appreciated gesture.

The breakfast was the only let down - I have never been offered such terrible, reheated, rock hard croissants and the staff were terribly stretched. A hotel should be able to calculate how busy their breakfast service is going to be and have sufficient staff to handle it.

I would consider staying at the St Davids next time we are in town

Room Tip: All the rooms a quiet and comfortable and have dear little balconies so you can feel as though you a...

Stayed here on a Business Trip at the end of June. I had stayed there previously when it was a Rocco forte hotel. Hotel occupies an impressive spot overlooking Cardiff Bay. Very impressive reception and atrium. I was given a junior suit/corner room which was very spacious and well equipped. Room looked very similar to when I'd stayed before, albeit it now had a Flat screen TV in. Room and Bathroom very clean but Bathroom was starting to look a little dated. Didn't eat in the hotel that evening, as we had a business meeting at a nearby Indian Restaurant. But had a drink in the bar and Liam Neeson was there, Breakfast was buffet style and was hot and they seemed to be replenishing the items regularly. As we checked out it transpired all the X Factor judges were staying at the hotel as there was an X Factor audition in Cardiff that day and there were TV crews outside and in reception. Saw Dermott o' Leary and Ollie Murs. Very nice hotel and would definitely return.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the St. David's Hotel on Cardiff bay - we found everything about the hotel to be excellent! - from the warm welcome on arrival and very efficient 'Check-in' - fantastic room (712 on the 7th floor with panoramic views) - super location with just a short walk to 'Mermaid Quay' which has every choice of eatery you could wish for or a £5 taxi or £1 metro trip into the city - happy & helpful staff thoughout our stay. All in all a great venue with good value. We will certainly be back. Thank you! Ian and Alan

Room Tip: Choose and room high up and with the bay view.
